Was I saying Matrix was faster than GTi?
Or was I saying Sentra SE-R was faster than Civic EX........... I think the second one.
For your info people--feeling fast, and going fast are TWO different things. Go test drive a Ford pick up.. when you thump and throttle it will push you to the back of your seat. But you will find that your Civic is faster, when you clock it.
I agree, I would say the GTi 1.8T is faster than Matrix, off the line.... however. Having said that, you guys only DROVE both. But never clocked them, have you? Both are 180HP... Golf has more fatter powerband, obviously.. but Matrix is lighter. And it will kill the 1.8T on the highway, guaranteed (driven the Celica GTS, it is a frightening fast car on the highway.. drove the 1.8T as well, but runs out of steam at 100mph+ and higher).
You need perfect shifts to get good time out of a Matrix XRS... the needle climbs to redline instantly, but if you shift it right, you will land in the "lift" zone, into 2nd. Whereas the GTi 1.8T, you could shirt 500rpm early, and you won't lose that much power, just because it has a fat powerband. In real life situtation, GTi 1.8T would take on a Matrix XRS easy........ to drive perfect all the time is impossible.
Don't believe everything you read, you said Redfrog... that's exactly my point.
I don't believe 1/2 the krap I read on the net. But if you believe a Civic can take on a Sentra or Celica....... just because people post STORIES about it... who' is more neive?

I don't really know what the civic can and can't beat. One thing I do know is that all you people talking about VWs make me sick. They are pieces of junk. Most are lemons and their reliability is terrible. If you just want to compare speed than the VW is faster but don't forget it cost several grand more also. Plus, it's no honda and the repairs will be frequent.
You know all that really matters is that it's fun to drive a slow car fast. It's all driver and that point is proven again and again in bracket racing. It's just great fun to try and go fast and look good doing it. The best time I have been able to ring out of my Civic is 17.36. The track I race on is 4225 feet above sea level. I wish I was hitting these numbers the magazines get. I will be racing my car all summer long in both Solo II and Drags. Wish me luck.

Just because I know that I run 15's doesn't mean that I think I can beat a SE-R, a GTI, or a GT-S. I've driven them all, I'd get smoked. Maybe not by more than a couple cars, but smoked indeed.
