What was your first "fix-it"?

I finally got to replacing my door actuator in my civic yesterday. Since I bought the car I had to manually lock/unlock the door--it wouldnt lock via remote. When I fixed it and it worked (and nothing else broke...) I got this unbelievable feeling of satisfaction...like I just finished a 15 page research paper or something (I guess thats not really satisfaction but rather that I finally got around to finishing the damn thing)

What was your first big automotive "fix-it" that gave you the same feeling? Was it as dramatic as Jeremy Clarkson's?

Haha Clarkson's "wheel weight". That was pretty funny.

My first fix-it was probably touch up paint lol. Right now my gas/trunk opener and panels around it are all taken out as I wait for my little product from fueldoorfix.com. I guess that'll be my first real fix-it

My first was changing some warped *** rotors. I felt satisfaction until I got on the highway and realised that I overtorqued my lug nuts and warped the new rotors. Thats when I learned to research before doing. I redid the brakes properly and felt great satisfaction !

Changing the brake drums on my old Corolla. I then discovered the horror of brake drums and to not trust Pep Boys(they messed up the job the first time. I then learned to only trust a handful of mechanics to touch any of my cars). Learned about torque specs in the same way. I was way too aggresive with fasteners in the older days. Lol.

Primary O2 sensor. Had to get that done for inspection. When I heard it was 200 for it I was taken aback. I thought if everything for the Civic was gonna cost that much then I'd better kiss any mods goodbye lol
