auto-dimming compass/temp readout rearview mirror
i installed my donnelly auto-dimming compass/temp readout rearview mirror yesterday and i must say it is a good add on. it took about 15 mins. and was simple to install. i now do not have those annoying HID wannabies and bad HID conversions glaring at me from the rear. plus i have a compass so i do not have to ask for directions anymore. i wanted to get the temperature readout too, but have not installed that part yet.

it wasn't that hard to install the mirror. you have to take the old one off because they do not make a auto-dimming mirror that mounts in the current location. you have to use the traditional button and glue. then, the wiring is just ground and positive where it turns on when the car turns on. i used the wires that powers the moonroof that are located in the pillar by the windshield. they are yellow with a green stripe. and that is about it. to get the temperature probe, you have to get it out through the firewall and behide the bumper where is gets constant air flow. i will try to do that this weekend. i will also have pics up later today.
2 companies make these mirrors:
Donnelly
Mito
i liked the donnelly model because the read out is at the bottom instead on being in the actual rearview mirror itself.
you can also get them from cars that are salvaged and just order a wiring harness or make one your self. the wire harness that came with mine has a fuse built into it, but i will have to check on what the amp is.

Don't forget those SUV and pickup headlights that always seem to end up 3 feet from your bumper.

damn i like the way the factory rearview mirror is on the roof with extra protection because when it's on the mirror the damn thing always
falls off with the bass pounding in the summer......
so i wonder if we can get one that will addon to the factory one or go back into the factory position

I ordered one with the headder mount (roof type mount) they sent me the cam lock (window type mount). I called and asked WTF??? they said it wasn't avaliable yet.. F-ing jerks could have posted that on their site.
