I need your help everyone...
I live in New York in Queens. We have no "scratch doctor or wizard" around here. I came out this morning to see that someone keyed my hood. It's an 8" streak. I got a quote from a body shop next door and they said it would come to $350. They were going to repaint the hood. For touch up they said it would be $20. I don't know what to do whether to touch it up or just leave it alone. Touch up is the only thing I can afford because I dont want to spend so much money on that scratch. Is it hard to do the touch up myself? Because they said it is cheaper if I just buy the paint and touch it up myself. What do you guys think? I'm not confident in working on my car when it comes to paint and crap. Any suggestions because that damn scratch is really stressing me out.
if you're flat broke and want to do it yourself, go to a couple of more body shops where they also paint cars and get advice on how to do it yourself. look around a little more and maybe one these guys will cut you some slack and offer to do it themselves, you never know

I live on Long Island, and although I dont know of any scratch fixers around here...or in queens I know they exist. When I worked for Porsche in amityville they would come there all the time. Look in the phone book or doa search on line. You are bound to find something. Dont give up so easy.
I think it'd be the best option if you decide to do it yourself. Before you rush out and spend $350 though to paint your hood, look at Carbon Fiber hoods. They're about the same price.

Cool, I'm originally from LI too! Sorry to hear about your car...how about fix it up with the touch-up job for now, then when you have the cake, get the rest of it fixed. That way it looks okay for now (or if you can live with that, you're all finished), and you can do it right later on.
