Top Speed of 2001 Civic EX 5 Speed????
I'm currently driving an Accord. I'm thinking seriously about trading in for a 7th Gen Civic. I do a lot of traveling, and I'm curious as to the top speed of a factory civic ex. Much of my traveling is out west, and I need a vehicle that can run 90-95 mph easily all day long. Any one able to help with this question???
yeah dude the 2001 civic ex 5 speed can easily do 90-95 for long periods of time. it may not ride as smooth as the accord, but it will do it. i have had my civic well 100 mph and it did fine. later

what is 130mph. however i got mine to 127 last night and it was slow as heck getting there but it will do 90 to 95 easy all day long.
why would u trade ANY accord for a cvic? it is a serious step down, and you WILL miss the accord......i am speaking out of experience.....
i owned a 89 accord, upgraded to a 90 integra, and then downgraded to the 2001 civic.....i miss the two oldies more then anything, and both were MUCH more solid cars then anything coming out of honda's hands today!
GRRRR......HONDA IS GOING DOWN THE DRAIN!

I traded a 00 accord ex-vl for my ex vic sedan. I didn't like the accord because it was huge in size to me, the interior is so bland it will make you puke, and I felt like a 40 yr old. Other than that it was a very nice car with a powerful v6 and some comfy *** seats. I miss the v6 and the auto climate control and my radio/cd controls on the steering wheel. I traded the accord and got the vic sedan ex for the same monthly payment (actually .25 less per month) and went from owing 43 payments on the accord to 36 on the vic.
I really do miss the power. I have started modding the vic with performance upgrades and am realizing that it will never be that fast and I will have several grand into it and void my warranty. I am starting to think it may be better to sell it and buy the new si in the end. I never intended to mod the vic but my wallet is going empty and my wife is complaining big time. She says that if she knew I was going to mod the vic, she never would have approved the trade. She gives the ok to trade for the si with one condition, no mods except wheels.
Edit: Oops, yea the vic can easily handle highway speeds but it will take quite some time to get used to seeing the rpms at 4k at 80mph and the noise. I constantly find myself reaching to shift up a gear.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I am suprised by some of it though. As I said I currently own an accord. I'm the original owner. It's a 90 model, and just turned 250,000 miles. On a straight stretch of highway it will still top out at 120 mph before the computer starts governing it. (the car starts jerking back and forth between 119 and 120) I guess I expected more top end performance from the new civics as they are 10 years advanced, but I expect that they are a little more peppy around town.

She is beautiful. I had a 93 coupe for 5 years. I loved that car more than any other one I have had yet. I loved the body style and I think they still look pimp. The day I sold her was pretty ruff.
Re: Top Speed of 2001 Civic EX 5 Speed????
I've read fellow posters claiming they've only hit 100-130. I'm not sure why they haven't maxed but in my stock 2002 civic ex following a BMW M3 on a cool day in louisiana on a six mile stretch of interstate(I-55) reached 141-143mph as my 5-speed rev limiter engaged @ 7000rpm in 5th of course at which point it slowed to ~138-140 and would then only rev up and down from 6250-6750. I hope that clears up your question.

lol.. wow.. thread from the dead and ****.. O_o
on topic, in my naive younger years, topped my car off at 135 mph (bounced off the governor), GPS confirmed the speed at 135.1mph
I'ma go ahead and close this thread though.. We don't need anyone else trying it and putting themselves and others in danger.
