Dealerships over estimate the populatiry of the new SI....
The new SI's around me have been going for 8-9k over invoice...they are also taking the fun out of it by adding on their aftermarket parts. There has only been one sold, and it was stock....I personally would never pay nearly 30k for an si. I'd get a wrx.
I've never even seen one on the road. I was at the dealer today and they had a black one in the showroom, marked up 5K, and nobody was looking at it

I went to Minneapolis a couple of days ago, one dealer had one with a sticker price of almost 24,000 with all the Honda-Dealer installed accessories, and I dont think it made the car look any better. I'm just not a hatch fan. Damn it Honda, Make an Si coupe.
Yeah definately wait for the hype to go down, I like the Type-R way better than the SI. Even though we probably will never get it here. But with the markups on the new SI yeah get the WRX, or RSX-S.

I went and looked at the si tonight. The sticker said 19,440 and no dealer installed accessories. I had my daughter with me so I just gave it a walk around. Went back around 12am after picking my wife up. The darn thing was unlocked so I gave it a nice checking over. I am considering getting rid of o2 ex sedan for it. I will pay sticker but nothing more. I am going to give it some thought though.
i would never ever pay anything over sticker price for anything. dealerships try to pull that crap all the time when new cars are released. remember on all new cars the manufacture has a mark up before it even gets to the dealer, they do this to get money from the consumer in this age of computers becaue we can find out just about anythng before we even go look at the car. dont make them think that they arent making any money thats BS. Oh yeah for 30K i would be getting a different car, sorry.
30k for an SI?
That's literally TWICE what I paid for a brand new EX Coupe! What do they think we're on?

the dealers are smoking crack again sigh
personally i would never pay more than the mrsp from honda and if i see one marked up stock i will tell the dealer theyre on crack lol
in Canada i beleive honda forbids dealers to mark up over mrsp, add the accesories though and they'll go nuts with the markup heh

Yeah, the new Si (Canadian SiR) sucks hard. Not only was it a major disappointment in the performance review (slower than EVERYTHING in its class, including VW GTi 1.8T, Ford Focus SVT, Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, Matrix XRS), but now the dealerships want to rape the consumers just because of the limited production.
Sure, back in '99, having an econo car w/160HP was cool. Unique. Now everybody pumps out more than 160HP (180, 170, 175, 180, respectively, from the list mentioned above). So who wants to pay top dollars for a grocery getter? Well, not too many, but I'm sure there are going to be people waiting in line to get one. Just becaues it's an Si. And that's probably what the dealerships are exactly looking for.

doesn't really have to do with the popularity of the car...it has to do with supply and demand...
i don't see a huge number of ppl lined up waiting to get it...but merely a handful...
but considering there's approximately 1 per dealer theres surely to be more than one person who wants it...

I haven't seen any on the road yet. My local dealer has a silver one and a puke colored one in the showroom. I have to say the interior is absolutely awesome. It looks and feels very sporty. Anyhow, how do you know that the dealer is charging several grand over the sticker? Are you guys asking or is it stated on the window sticker?

I would never pay anything that was not hundreds of dollars less than MSRP. Ppl who pay MSRP or more are suckers. Especially for hyped-up cars (remember the new beetle). Give me a break.
