Re: custom short shifter setup
thanks Mr Plenty
I don't mind the haters, it's my car I'll do what I want to do with it. Some people like certain things others don't...it all comes down to the fact that I am the one driving it so it doesn't matter. My shifting setup just did not make sense to go out and buy the revo or anything else when I already had the neuspeed adapter which I love. I can tell you right now that my throws or smooth as silk and short. When that **** gets on there it will be superb!

Re: custom short shifter setup
I am not being cheap by any means...just doing something differant...why would I throw away my neuspeed adapter away and render it useless...I figured I would have some fun welding....
Re: custom short shifter setup
i don't see y people bag on this guy for doing something diff. he's being creative, unlike most people on here who just buy pre-made stuff..... anyways, good work and can't wait for pics

Re: custom short shifter setup
i sold my neuspeed adapter, on here actually, after i bought the revo. meh i dunno. i just think of something like, "hey i made my own strut brace tonight". that doesn't scream performance enhancing mod.
Re: custom short shifter setup
i still get frustrated when i see some of the comments even towards other members myself. I like the idea this guy is doing something new on his/her own, and that when its finished itll be to his liking and not just a kit that was out on the market that everyone has i guess? besides, this will be covered up with his shift boot anyhow...so really? dont matter on this one, but if it were a strut bar made custom would look retarded unless you could master it like a pro?

Re: custom short shifter setup
Well I must be cheap too. Before anyone had these options I cut my shifter all to hell. Reconstructed the whole thing and tigged it all up with properly weld preped parts. My shifter feels better than any other cable shifter I've ever used. Not to mention in my younger days I used to shift like an animal and I actually broke a cable, so yeah, its strong enough. Most people wouldn't even tell it was modified if it was out of the car on a bench. I made almost everything on my car, I must be really cheap I guess. Everything you can make yourself that saves you money can be applied to something else. Some of the fastest reliable cars I've seen were backyard builds with creative minds trying new things.

OP: why don't you ditch the adapter and fab up a permanent throw reduction bracket?

YES! Finally, my SKUNK2 weighted **** arrived today and let me tell you...that thing is heavy. It is small and is surprising how much that thing weighs. Also had to check and make sure the thread size was correct 10x1.5 M! ...will install and post pictures late tonight, as I am at work till 11pm! Check back!

Re: custom short shifter setup
it feels smooth as hell....
the throws are shorter than ever, and that heavy *** **** just engages everything so smooth. It is almost like it falls into gear once I get it moving! Love it!

Re: custom short shifter setup
although you did an awesome job on the SS kit itself....
i dont care for the painted pieces nor for the fact where the **** has what looks like a bolt on a skinny shiftrod? hard to explain but it looks off for some reason.
but still....good job man

Re: custom short shifter setup
it may actually look a little decieving, as the bolt matches the finish of the ****.....it looks fine. As for the painted trim pieces...I did that to my entire interior....key word there is MY. If I like it, that is all that matters!
