You would really have to know how to detail that crap out of a car. It's not easy. Here in Miami, detailer's charge up to $200 and they come well prepared. Plus....you know alot of people are picky with thier cars. Good luck. Hope you do well with that.

Re: How much would you pay to have your car looking new again?

it depends on what all they do to the outside of meh car... just a orbital buff, prolly i'd only pay 50 or so.

BUT which PC did u buy?!?! because i have been debating it for a good while now. https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...le-7424-a.html

Also, how much was it, which pads did u use, and what waxes did you use...

i was looking at this one
http://www.autogeek.net/hk7424.html
with the XMT waxes, and the last coat my Meguiars gold class.

Re: How much would you pay to have your car looking new again?

My buddy is a semi pro detailer on the side. Dude is crazy... several thousand dollars of products... he even has this 300 dollar an ounce wax that is amazing. He has three buffers, about 50 pads, well over 100 products... he just bought a 600 dollar steam cleaner... not only does he do the outside but he does the whole car, engine bay, shampoo carpets... glass, black trim... you name it, hes done it. Hes not cheap, he pulls about 200 per detail and has a waiting list over 5 weeks long. Thats crazy if you ask me. You really gotta know what your doing with all that stuff- like, do you use a product to give you the wet look, or a product to give you a reflection with a lot of depth.. which products hide scratches the best, what removes oxidization.. etc... having a buffer is like having thead for a seat in the car. You far from having a product thats ready to sell.

...not to bring you down even further but watch it with thoes buffers- they can burn threw the paint if you dont keep it moving... I've seen it done to a bumper I picked up off craigslist... sad story there.

Re: How much would you pay to have your car looking new again?

alright, so i guess i wont be detailing cars for a living. that answers my question of using my car as advertisment or not.

LT2004ever, yeah i bought the PC 7424. Ever since we had the SoCal meet at Meguiars in Irvine, i've been a fan of theirs. So.. this is what I got for $200

PC 7424
Velcro Backing plate
1 - Meguiars w8006 pad
2 - Meguiars w9006 pad
and also the meguiars clay bar kit.

Now that I think about it, that package you posted seems like a really² good deal.

I used(all meguiars)
Clay bar
Deep Crystal Cleaner
Deep Cyrstal Polisher
Then Yellow Wax

I have this 3m swirl mark remover which is pretty badd *** but i think its more aggressive than the Deep Crystal so I was scared to use it

Re: Before/After with a PorterCable 7424 on 02' Civic

Also TRIZ unless u really put alot of pressure on the PC you cant eat through the paint. Its an orbital buffer not just one big rotating one. So yea unless you press on there it wont do any major harm. At least thats what my buddy showed me when he was using his.

^oh werds I though it was the other kind, the orbital ones are fool proof!

Btw, my buddy took a few years to get where he is... basically tryed a bunch of new things, and then figured out what worked and ppl wanted their car looking like his... so you might turn into a detailing guru one day!!

Sometimes you need to use more pressure. When you use the intermediate swirl remover you should use about 20lbs of pressure and keep the movement slow and overlapping.
