I was involved in a wreck yesterday
I have a 01 black civic lx and a friend of mine just got a 02 black civic ex 5sp. I went riding with him wednesday and he lost control of his car. We hit a curb and flipped over the median tearing a streetlight post out of the ground. It seemed like we rolled forever. Some witnesses said we rolled between 6 and 8 times. After the madness, the car was laying on its side and I crawled out the top. My bud was screaming in shock that he wrecked his new car. His car was torn to pieces. Both airbags deployed and we both have minor injuries. The cops don't see how we even survived let alone come out sore with nothing but scratches. The ambulance arrived and we were carried out on those boards both of us in neckbraces. He was hyperventilating and couldn't breathe, at first they thought he had a punctured lung. Luckily, he was just in shock. It was hard laying strapped to the board next to him in the ambulance listening to it all. I feel VERY safe in my civic knowing the complete safety just in case something like this happens to me. After they pulled the glass out of my right hand, they bandaged up my wrist and sent me on my way. The strange thing is that 5 minutes prior to the accident, I insisted that he put on his seatbelt becuase its the end of te month and the police make the quota... well, he put on the seatbelt and it saved his life. If he wasnt wearing it he would have 1. went through the windshield or 2. gone through the open sunroof. All I'm saying is that to all you people who drive fast not thinking of other people on the road... dont put their lives in jeopardy too. We didnt hit anyone, but the streetlight got pistol whipped. I think I'm gonna go and take my intake off now. I'm a very lucky guy to be here typing this right now. I think I covered it all. talk to you peeps later.

Sounds like you are lucky to be here typing the story. I don't know that you need to take your intake off. It will be quite some time before things will return to normal behind the wheel. Sounds like you learned how precious life is. Anyhow, glad to hear you both made it out ok.

I know what you mean when you say you feel safe in your Civic, hell I rolled mine this winter, as most of the active members might remember, Click Here For A Refresher and even though it was a light roll if I had of been driving anything else I would have a broken neck from the roof caving in on me and my girl. Its good to see you two are ok, and be careful of who your riding with, its totally different when your not behind the wheel.

Glad to hear that you two were ok. If you start feeling any neck or back pain in the next few days make sure you goto a doctor. After I got rearended 2 years ago...I was fine right after the accident but 1 day later I was all sore. I went to the doctor and got some xrays done. Found out I had messed up my back pretty bad. Right now im waiting to collect on my lawsuit....
omg, glad to hear you are alright, i know what you are going through(kinda). my car is gone too!
see, thats why i NEVER drive unsafe when someone else is with me in the car. god forbid something happens, its not fair to take someone else's life with yours.
drive safe and wear your seatbelts. this story just goes to show you.
peace
Zaid.

I'm glad you are both okay, and I'm sure you don't need me or anyone else to tell you how lucky you both are. For God's sake, always wear your seatbelt and I'm all for performance driving but don't go beyond reason. Drive carefully everyone. Ask yourself how it would feel to live if you ever took someone else's life because of a moment's carelessness.

Thanks for the condolences. My muscles are just now starting to loosen up. At least I get to finally use my sick time for work!
Dah well, There was no glass in the car (windshield completely shattered as well as all windows and back winshield). He told me yesterday that the roof was caved in past the crumple zones. We were rolling so hard i didnt even feel the streetpost.
To who asked how it happened: It was around an S curve (of all things) well we were in the far right lane, and the turn went left then right. We were doing somewhere between 55-65 and the right rear tire jumped the curb. We slid sideways through the rest of the turn and hit flush with the center median curb on the drivers side. We then flipped to the other side of the street.
Get this, people were hollering because they had places to be. They weren't even worried if anyone was ok. The funny part was the look on their faces after they see this civic flying through the air at them and then see me randomly climb out the top and hop down. Jaws were dropped. heheh, well he had some lower back pain. dunno how the xrays turned out.

glad you guys are okay man , my friend flipped over his 95 mustang GT a couple of winters ago becasue of black ice he came out with scratches and his girl friend had a concusion but they were okay considering the car rolled over about 5 - 6 times doing about 60 mph, I saw pics of his car and I couldnt belive he walked out okay !

Because the majority of us on this board own Civics... when we're in an accident, we live to tell about it. I had my accident... f'cking deer didn't live to tell his buddies.
(Or maybe he did... he walked away after the impacts... probably saw them all dazed n sh't like, Deer that I hit: "Dude! I just got slapped by a small Honda goin 75!"
Another deer: "Oh yeah? How was it?"
Deer that I hit: "Dude... that Civic wasn't... shiiiiiiiiiiiiii...." :: deer dies while his buds laugh at him like it was some Budweiser commercial ::
Anyways, the score is Civics: 1 - Deer: 2
