b16 should i buy it

Is it worth buying a b16, i can get it for $100 with all parts, but have to build it myself. Should I buy it and build it up, or just try to find a b18?

can you REALLY go wrong for 100$? You could buy it, build it and if you don't want it, resale it.

b16 is actually illegal to put into a street 7th gen. cannot put an engine into a car that is younger than the engine.

b16 heads are said to flow better. also in combination with a b16 tranny, you get closer gear ratios. most ef-eg-ek enthusiast know about this setup and is commonly used.

A b16 head doesn't flow any better then a gsr b18 head. The gsr actually flows better slightly. I b16 is basically a slightly destroke b18c1.

He would actually lose static compression if he put a b16 head on a b18c1 block.

If he's staying NA, then the only thing he would gain would be using if the SI tranny.

if he's going boost then a b18c1 would be a better plateform to start with since the tranny is already gear well for turbo and the stock head can hold a lot of power already.

stock b16 head vs stock b18c1 head

Re: b16 should i buy it

honestly if the B16 is not going into anything but a hatch, dont buy it, my buddy has a 00 Si with a B16 blcok, Type R Tranny, Type R head, T 3/04E Turbo setup at 10 lbs, worked bottem end, and only ran a 13.8...which is kinda sad as SRT-4 run 13.9 stock
