Exclamation Type R B18 bottom; which top end should i use

I know a very little bit about the different types of top ends that i could choose to put onto my type r b18 bottom end that i recently picked up. I have a stock '94 d16 vtec honda civic coupe automatic that i am looking to put a non turbo engine into. I am going to put a manual transmission and the bottom end to the b18 into it, i don't believe that i want to go with a full type r engine, so i was wondering what some other good alternatives would be to a top end, i was thinking maybe a b16 top?? Any help or pointers are appreciated. Thanks, Emily

If you have a B18c5 like you think you do...

put a B16 Vtec head on there and youll be good to go.

what a douche. i highly doubt you have a b18c5r. if you did, why wouldnt you want an itr head to go on top of it? my guess is youve got a b18a1 or b18b1 someone told you was type r. go take a pic of the engine number stamped on the side of the block. if you want the best, put a b18c5r head on top of it. thats a badass motor and it put out as much power as it did due to the r&d that went into it. use your same jdm connection to find one. if not a b16 head will do.

If I was offered a b18c5 block

Id be like awwwww

where is the head and the rest of the engine...

The B18c5 head would be the best choise because of the Type R cams in it.

people have spare motors, and people part out those motors all the time. one scenario is that the guy he bought it from had a spare b18c5 and sold the head then sold the block. you dont need to be so hostile when all he asked was a simple question.

Re: Type R B18 bottom; which top end should i use

my question was why didnt he want an itr head? just sounded a little fishy to me that he didnt want a full type r motor and he wanted to downgrade to a b16 head. to me, that says BS. and there was no hostility in my post. take a step down from your high horse and relax. of all the flaming and and whatnot on this site in the last day or so you come down on that one post?

Re: Type R B18 bottom; which top end should i use

a jdm b16 head flow almost the same numbers as the b18c5. realistically either head will do the motor justice. if you plan to do any porting and polishing then it really doesnt matter. the cams are what is going to play the amjor roll. so if you plan to run aftermarket cams then either head will also do.

and uncle re-red your post, it is harsh man. obviously she is asking a question because she really doesnt know. with that in mind try to offer some constructive critisizm instead of jumping down her throat in your first post.
