mileage...
mileage...
how do i stop the mileage? i jus pull out a wire or simething. i got robbed into signing 15 cents for each mile over 10K a year
. any help would be appreciate. oh, and 1 more thang... mature answers pls. thanks.
theres some wire (near the headlight) that if unconnected doesnt make your mileage on the odometer run. only drawback is the speed gauge wont work either, so you wont know how fast youre going. and also theres most likely a breakable seal. a friend back in the day had it done to his pontiac
Sounds like the dealership got you into a lease instead of a buy. What you want to do is illegal. I'm not sure whether or not there's another place in our cars that track mileage even if the odometer is disconnected. I remember reading it somewhere on this site. Just do a search for mileage questions and read up on what others have to say.
UNLESS you find & (cut or disconnect) the grounded wire from the odometer ...since it has a lifetime battery of its own, you'll never find that green wire behind the left light....good luck looking///just reset the computer!!<-drink this doing it
<< u wanna get fuqed in the a$$ by lawyers? be my guest... but i aint bending over >>
lol you're gonna get owned up the *** as well if you fake your milage
this has nuttin to do with your question but is anyone else gettin tired of qcksilvr cuz i know i am
im sure people on here dont need you to tell us what you suggest we should and should not do, maybe you would like to hold our hand when we drive too

Umm.. yah. That is the general purpose of this forum. To ask for help and opinions of others. If you don't like what qcksilver has to say, then don't listen. But unlike many others on this site, he isn't flooding this forum with ignorant remarks and irrational logic. Plain and simple, if you don't like what someone has to say, fine. But starting a flame war on someone because they may have offered advice that you don't like is pretty immature if you ask me. Oh wait.. did you ask me?? I wouldn't want you to not like what I have to say.

All these damn PoPo's all over the place but he's a 7th gen guy so I gotta give him some slack.
JoeyTStylesS...please read my post carefully. I stated that I "strongly advised," advised being the operative word. I didn't order someone not to do it, I just merely informed them of the legality, something that I believe any responsible person would be concerned with. Do what you want, I could care less what you do.
qcksilver is correct. u r going to violate a federal offense. however, it's ur own a$$. i guess u are mature enough to know what is right or wrong. just don't blame others with ur wrong doings. good luck.
Thank you. I don't like to see people get in trouble with the law at all...which is why I think everyone should be informed so they are empowered to make an informed decision. The Feds and most state attorney general's offices have units that go after this kind of thing...I just don't want to see someone get nailed for it.
you can find a way to unplug the odometer, but it wont do you any good....unfortunetly the ecu in our vehicles records the mileage as well (picked up from the alternator) along with number of times the car has been started, etc. etc. etc........this was all told to me by a dealer (so if none of it is true, dont blame me)

if you get a new gauge cluster, the miles will become zero. i know this because my gas meter was off and the dealer ship put in a new gauge cluster and the miles went to zero
when you get a new cluster you still have all your miles. Mileage is recorded and stored with every dealer maintenence, so in the off chance you manage to get your new cluster to 0, or you pull the wire, they can detect possible tampering which can, at the least, severly affect the resale value of the car. Not to mention that it is very illegal.

I know on my 2000 nissan frontier when you disconnect the speedo harness, the altenator stops. There are ways of stopping your mileage, I suggest you do a search and you might find your illegal answer
