DIY trunk, what's it do?

Ok I saw the DIY trunk post, and sorry for my ignorance everyone, but I don't see what we're trying to accomplish here. What exactly is this mod meant to do?

I didn't pay attention to the trunk DIY but that looks kind of cool, definitely something that's original (plus it kinda looks like a little martian might pop out of the trunk) [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/IMG]
