Street racing is illegal though. I think its stupid, it puts way too many peoples lives at risk.
Plus the police are really cracking down on street racing since every kid these days thinks they are in Fast and the Furious

Street racing is too inaccurate. With track racing you have a fair shot at the lights not no three honk jumping sh** that people always pull. Getting the jump by even less than a second makes a big difference. Im not saying i dont street race but i would rather track race. And its completely legal to track race haha already got busted twice, once for exhibition driving and once for drag racing but he went for the mustang and not me hahaha.

street racing

I prefer street racing. I know its illegal, looked down upon, dangerous, etc. but the thrill, risk, and most of all the respect that one receives is, to me, worth all the effort. Of course, if you get caught, thats your fault. But then, that risk is what makes street racing so thrilling.

car

I don't have a tuner car yet (or one thats presentable, anyways)...I own a 98 Mistubishi Diamante that I'm working on currently, and race with a modified 350z (i don't know the specifics, other than the fact that I REALLY enjoy how it handles); I am a sales rep at my cousin's shop, so I have exposure to basic tuning.

Street racing is where it is at... Although here in Tejas there are a couple of nice tracks. The problem is they are too crowded and you can only get a race like every month. So you have to go to the street. You just need to find the right spots and it can be fairly safe.

The problem is some of the other drivers suck, and their cars suck even more.

It is not like I strap a little kid to the hood of my car. We often race on industrial streets late at night so there is no random traffic there. The risk is little. I don't think I know of any accidents in my area in 5 years of doing it.

The cops seem to know about it, but they don't hassle us because it is pretty clean. No real gangs, no drugs, no alcohol for the most part and people tend to be very safe.

Its the same way here too. haha one time my buddy with a 88 turbo supra with a rebuilt 1jz and some other minor mods was a racing a mustang(he was just handing that car its a**)and they flew by a cop goin like 70-90 probably i dont have any idea but the cop just looked at them and went the other way haha, probably because he knew he would have no chance at catchin them.

They have come down alot on street racing where i live, it used to be pretty big though.
never saw many civics going, it was mostly turbo cars like the supra, 240sx etc.

As someone said, its damn inaccurate on the street, but i guess you arent really racing for times, but more to beat the other person

Yup.

I mostly race other civics. I don't race all the time, but I go out there every other week or so. We have a handful of guys who race their civs.... it is a lot of fun.

If I could only afford those stripes, I would beat them all.

It was my birthday the other night, and my friends decided to street race on a road that we thought and was told that we wouldn't have any problems w/ it......well my friends made a couple of runs and as we were sittin there in the middle of the road we see this white pickup fly around us in the grass before we have a chance to move out of the way. So it was my turn to race but before we could start we decided to go check out the other end of the street where that guy went. HE HAD BLOCKADED THE ROAD W/ HIS TRUCK AND CALLED THE COPS ON US! Well two of my friends panicked and drove of into the grass spinning and sliding. Me and my other friend just decided to wait cuz the cops couldn't do anything anyways cuz they would have had to catch us racing. Well to make a long story short I talked our way out of it. (the cop was really cool and it just so happened that he had graduated from the same school as us only years before so that helped). What a birthday huh? lol...

I don't race much, but I prefer track racing. I don't like to take the risk as well as break the law to street race, and I have more fun on tracks anyway.

I prefer track racing. I love being timed and racing others. There are too many variables on the street, though the thrill of possibly getting caught does make it fun

Haha yes, there is always the risk that makes it exciting, but for me.....I would rather be safe(er) instead of risking getting caught.

Yeah, I'm not much of a racer though. The little I've done have been on tracks and I've never been inclined to try on street.

I hate going in circles. Plus my alignment is off, so single turn tracks makes me want to get sick to my stomach.

Street Racing is a rush. It is over and done in a flash and you have added elements of danger.

Track racing is mind-numbing.

have to agree. even running solo fast in the roads, you never know when the stupidy guys will come from between cars trying to cross the road looking the other way like an english man or japanese guy... (they drive the wrong way, you know)... And some of them are the fools like my friend who street race anyplace and anyway, and got ran over for crossing the street by another guy street racing so no complains...

Re: Street Racing vs Track Racing

It takes a true idiot to street race. This thread is pretty old, from 2006 but I hope most of the people above lost their licenses, before they lose their lives. I love it how they are worried about tickets, and getting pulled over, more than they are worried about killing some kid playing on the street.
