i have an auto, and i drive under 4k rpm 99% of the time. usually less than 3k if i can, the car is babied and maintained more than recommended. moms 92 accord has only had the brake master cylinder go out unexpectedly and a distributor blow. dads 92 miata has had the clutch replaced a few years ago and thats it! they dont make em like they used to. and cars are surprisingly fragile. just look at the thousands of parts that could break or mess up. its a wonder they dont break more often.

gear why do you have to chime in with all these negative comments all the time? Stuff don't start to break the first year unless you're careless about your car.
Your car btw breaks because you do all this crap to it all the time. Working on your motor, doing all these USELESS lights all over your car. Messing with this and that. Have you ever thought that the problems you're having iwth your car is because of YOU????
I have had my car for almost 5 years now. The only thing wrong that ever went wrong with it ever is my driver side lock actuator going out and my rear defroster. thats about it.
No tranny slippage no this and no that.
Seriously, hondas in my opinion are VERY reliable cars, as long as you don't mess around with the factory stuff. Toyotas are too.

LOL!! Tough guy... straight out...hehe
But the auto tranny is an issue though for 7thgens and thats a fact. There was this 7thgen that came in that had its timing belt broke off and bent the valves. We repaired it 2 days later his tranny went out and blammed us for causing the problem. So we called the dealer where he took it to to get it repaired and asked em if we caused it which obviously we didnt cuz the customer was just being an *** and didnt know wtf he was talking about. The dealer said all auto 7thgens have 60% chance of it failing so yea lol......
Yeah I have an 01 and its been reliable as hell so far. I think a lot of people miss the fact that cars with high mileage are usually driven a lot per year for example that 93 with 400 some odd thousand miles avg'd about 35,000 miles per year which is pretty high considering that 12,000 is usually average. Time is also a factor so if a car thats 30 years old dies with 80,000 miles on it does that mean it was a piece of garbage because it didnt break the 100,000 mile mark? No it just means it rarely got driven. A lot of cars with high mileage usually get driven more than average and they achieve those miles because they didnt deal with the issue of time.
no its not just me, thousands of other members and mechanics tell me what a junk pile they become. tranny has a FACTORY DEFECT, alternators are so bad they just burn out in a couple years, heck ive even had my vtec solenoid go out, and when i search i found a ton more people with the same problem. my throttle body sensor broke, my tranny is slipping, yea and none of that stuff was modified. pure stock. so no i never once thought i caused the problems. you really have no clue about cars do you. useless lights? yea some of us like hid headlights and brighter led dash lights. if anything the reduced voltage requirement would take a load off the pos 70 amp alternator so it does break every year.
No cars in the entire world are ever perfect, so of course there are bound for things to break and such.
I can honestly call Bull $hit that you drive your car below 3k all the time. Alternators burning out after a few years, all of my firends have the 7thgen and none of them have ever had a problem with their alternators. Maybe, this is because you always mess around with your LIGHTS AGAIN! From what i remember, you had a ported head, Ported header, bored out trottle body, heater bypass and god knows what other stuff you ddi to the motor. So you're telling me that, you did all that stuff to DRIVE IT UNDER 3K? MAN PLEASE!
I also know that you put it back to stock, but who knows what kind of stress you have already placed on the motor when doing all that crap. Yes your lights are USELESS. I'm not talking about yoru HIDS, because those are pretty nice if i might add, i'm takling about "oh lets make my license plate lights in the back light up brighter, let me change my entire dash blue when i can jsut buy indiglos, let me change my signal bulbs so they can light up brighter so other cars can see that my lights are COOL. Tell me those things are not useless!
Yes gearbox, i have no clue about cars. I'm not 26 yrs. old and sit at home searching the internet on new ways to fix up my lights, i'm out there busting my behind in school so i can help out my family in the future.
Bottom line is that you have modified your car in every way possible, even though it still looks as stock as you can get, you have already PROBABLY caused the stress on your motor and other related issues. You're just too ignorant to see it.
If you want a better car, save up for one, but i'm sure you'll always find something wrong with the new car also

But I also can stand corrected and say that maybe this could be all a coincidence and it is hondas fault, but we both know the truth here. Please don't tell me again taht you drive your car under 4k 99% of the time. Sometimes you need to floor your car to break up teh carbon and such. Its not always a good thing to baby your car all the time.

haha, sup dru. Not a tough guy. Just straight out. Gearbox is a very knowledgable person, yes, but at times talks out of his a$$. 7thgen trannies are not that strong i know, but in his case, he has so much problems to his car that it's not even funny.
He always takes his car apart so he can clean this and clean that, but imo, he's the cause of introducing more problems to his car and just likes to blame honda themselves for his mishaps.
Saw the same thing when i went in last month the monthly maint. 95 accord just a lil bit over 300k. the lady in the service center cut it off and restarted 3 times saying she couldnt believe it

btw. doesn't honda hook you up with a new car after a certain crazy high mileage or something? 500,000 or somewhat.....

Is it red? I once saw an accord that was painted a nice cherry red (everything else was stock) and said "300k and counting" in the window.

YA BOY-EEE. DAT DA TRUF.
Japanese car might be known for their reliability... but my grandfather has a 1922 Dodge Bros. Touring Model that has never been taken apart. The thing was daily driven for 40-something years before he bought it in the 1960's and repainted and reupholstered it. It still starts to this day.... hand cranked.
Also, it's a matter of when you're talking about here. American engines are pretty damn good in most pickup trucks and alot of the older cars. Their interiors might go to ****... but it's not uncommon to have a 1990's Chevy Suburban with 200k miles.
Also - what about cop cars? They get 100-200k miles clocked in only a few years... Sounds pretty damn reliable to me.
Go text message you little friends with **** like "4ever." If you want to offer an opinion on a forum discussion, it will help people to believe your opinion is valid if you use english.

^^^^ haha dirtySAMURAI... I think he's talking about this video where some jerks took a 5th gen and drained the oil out and started driving it around empty for a few hours. Then they like filled it with water or something and it still took like 15 minutes of bouncing off redline to blow.
Not sure about the "thax for the pic" comment though. You're welcome? LOL

seriously, don't give everyone this bull crap that you always do. Making yourself think that you know all this stuff about cars all the. Sorry if i'm a full time pharmacy student trying to get my degree.

i have 107,000 miles on my 02 and have had no problems stock clutch, stock brakes with 40%+ left on em. hondas are known for there reliability not there power. but semis usually go about a million miles before they rebuild there engines and i have seen quite a few american vehicles make it well past the 300,000 mark, i even saw a 500,000 suburban so i think i depends on how well u drive it and maintiain it.
gotta love hondas.... for everyone with a myspace. take a look at this group.
groups.myspace.com/STRICTCIVICHATERZ lots of retards in here if u want a good laugh.
