Fight for a speeding ticket
Has anyone fight for their speeding ticket before? If you do, please tell me your experience. I got my first speeding ticket and my first window tint ticket in the last 5 years of my driving
. I am thinking to fight the ticket before I paid the ticket.
. I am thinking to fight the ticket before I paid the ticket. well if u fight for ur ticket ur gonna have to go to court and pay for a lawyer. Thats gonna take a lot of time and some money. If you win though itll be worth it. If you lose its gonna suck cause u spent ur time in court, paid for the lawyer, and then ur still gonna have to pay for ur ticket too. And dont forget if u end up paying the ticket u might want to go to traffic school. which is a pain in the *** nd takes some money out of your wallet... been there done that. if you think u have a chance of winning def. fight it. itll be worth it. but if its something u have no chance against its just best to pay off the ticket as is. thats from my personal experience....

i got pulled over doing 111mph in a 55mph zone.
my lawyer is just ajerning(sp?) it til the cop dont show up 3 times. once that happens the ticket is dropped.

I think a lawyer is an option, you can defend yourself. But I'd recommend the lawyer unless you have a slam dunk "the cop screwed up" story. I tried to fight a ticket to no avail. It should cost the same win or lose. If it's your first, I'd just pay the ticket and go to driver's school to keep it off your insurance. If you fight the ticket and lose, then try to take driver's school it will cost more.
yeah that's a tuff one unless you have some really good proof that you were not speeding then you won't need a lawyer. And if the cop doesn't show up oooooooooooohh you win...but it can take time and money to be going to court on work days and waiting on lines earrrrrrlly in the morning....aarrgghhh...
I'm going to court on Nov. 9 but thats to fight a dif. ticket. He pulled me out of a line of cars and gave me $130 ticket for failure to yeild to a stop emergency vehicle.
I'm not getting a lawyer unless they tell me I still have to pay the ticket, then I just ask for a continuence, and give the ticket to my lawyer to get if fixed. So you can try to fight it but I didn't try to fight my speeding ticket. Only thing I can think of to fight is that the radar is off, or he clocked someone else. Hope it works out however you do it.

you cant do traffic school if you lose the case!! unless you feel you have ground to stand on then just go to court they will reduce the fine and take the traffic school option that way it wont go on your driving record and it wont affect your insurance.
i fought a ticket before but i also knew i would win. a speeding ticket is a little harder fight being that its the cops word against yours. and if he had his camera on you may as well just pay it and move on

Apply for a continuance (a delay) by saying you'll be out of town that day or you need more time to prepare your case. for many municipalities, you can actually do this online. Otherwise, you'll need to show at traffic court and fill it out in person.
If you do that, the probability that the cop shows up at the new date is very low so you might be able to get out of it that way.
For my ticket, I was offered the option to plea for a non moving violation, but still pay the ticket and that's what I did. I paid the fine and got no points.

i dont no how it is with other states..but here u can pay a certain amount and get it turned into a seatbelt violation, so that doesnt affect ur insurance...talk to someone in the know about it

what are all you guys talking about?? you dont need a lawyer. big waste of money. but first i need to know how fast you were going thats a diff story. i got a warning for 70 in a 45 and a ticket for 77 in a 55. i think over 30 is wreckless driving so you gotta watch that. i went to court fought it and won. just me. my ticket was 140 and 2 points. i walked out of court with the fee dropped to 100 and 25$ in court fees so it came to 125 and i lost the 2 points. but i also got put on pbj so if i get pulled over again within a year then that ticket comes back with my other one i just got. if its your first ticket you always fight it. after this one dont fight it unless there was a really good reason. all depends on how fast you were going.

yeah i dont think you need a lawyer either.. Basicaly you show up to the local court and the judge just asks you how you plea, and then you tell him, hes like allright, and gives you a date if you want to fight it that the cop will be in court as well. Anyways, then you come back and do your thing... up to you if you want to... I think it might be better just to deal with it at the local court level and tell the guy whatever option it is, so that it can be lowered. I dunno man, I hesitate to even posts kuz court pisses me off and intimidates me. I'll leave it for the others to help you out.
good luck man.

I know it just 10 miles over. Actually I was following the speed of the red van in front of me, but then he stopped me probably because I got my window tinted. The ticket total is $250, $120 for speeding and $130 for window. Oh man this is just ridiculous. Anyway I'll add you in my AIM and hopefully I'll win this.

dam bro thats steep. Well i would bring it to a traffic lawyer and let them handle it. My friend told me to never pay the ticket off cuz its like you admiting guilty and u will have to pay the price. I think if u fight it u wont get a point on ur license and traffic school is a maybe. Im not sure myself but i would go to court just to shave off the point from my license.
if you go to court and lose you get the points and the fine. if you admit guilt usually they will reduce the fine, and if you havent in the past 18 months let you go to traffic school.
I always fight my tickets and represent myself... and 99% of the time i walk away...
this is the best.. it was put together by a lawyer! http://www.magma.ca/~fyst/ you have to ask questions like... when was the radar last callibrated? is there a possibility it read the speed of a car going in the opposite direction? How accurate is it? If you can bring up the slightest chance of being innocent or the possibility of not speeding close to what the officer is claiming, you can walk away.
