direction of Honda's future styling
direction of Honda's future styling
hello everyone. a few days ago, I checked my mail and there was a CR-V announcement about the upcoming redesign. I did not like it at first but thought I needed to fish for more pictures, but yet, I still did not like it. after seeing the CR-V, it made me look closely at the Honda line-up and I realized that there really isn't much "sportyness" that Honda is suppose to portray.

even American brands have much better styling...

this thread is mainly about CR-V's but ive gotten off track...

im sorry, I do not "crave" the new CR-V and I hope the styling of this new compact is the direction Honda is taking with its whole lineup.
I guess i will just enjoy my '04 Civic while it's still driveable. sorry for the long rant, but I needed to get it out.
thoughts and opinions r welcome

The new saturns share a lot of design cues with the opel cars- but the only direct carry over is the Sky, which is a rebadging of the Opel GT Roadster.
And Opel is a GM brand anyways, and is heavily designed here in Michigan @ the GM Design Center.

I like hondas new styling. Sure, its not what we're use to but the company is growing. The new Honda's designs make those cars look higher class..and more luxurious. Look at the models you've compared the Hondas with. The Rav 4 and the Camry. By looking at those cars you can see why Honda is heading towards the direction they are heading.
I'm not trying to say that Honda is influenced by Toyota, what i'm saying is that both companies are growing, and are offering a lot more to the table for their consumers. When it comes down to it, its about the consumers, and producing a product that sells. But don't ever think Honda has lost its sports/race car roots. Because it hasnt. Theres a big future ahead for Honda sports cars..

dont flame the post OK!!!!! He has a very good point The new 2007 Camry is wayyyyyyy hotter than the accord, also look at Chrysler (Dodge) they have like 6 new products out for 2007. Yeah OK its dodge but who cares they are making people fall in love with their designs and to top that they have decent warranty to boot. Did you guys see the newWrangler 4 door WOW its beautiful, kinda like a mini hummer for about 31 grand canadian fully loaded with three sunrroofs. Also the new seabring is absolutely sexy.. Now tell me that the Element is a nice car and you need to get your head examined. My next car will not be a Honda unless drastic changes are made to keep up with existing and futur models on the way out.Oh yeah did you see the Chrysler ASpen ??? Hemi engine Escalade looks and half the price!!!!!! Honda better watch out cuz they will not know what hit them !!!!

"From now on, whenever we develop a vehicle, we have to make sure we can export it to the U.S., and vice versa,” “The idea is to be very flexible,” - Carl-Peter Forster, president-General Motors Europe.
The Saturn Aura is the Opel Vectra, Opel's Speedster is the Saturn Sky, and soon the Opel Astra will be the next Saturn Ion.
I also agree with your statement that Honda and Toyota have never been known for being sporty. Nissan, as you stated has been.

I will admit, I DID like the Accord when it first came out with its current design (without the front and rear LED refresh) since the Camry wasn't exactly "sporty" and I DID favor the CR-V over the previous generation RAV4.
But now Toyota is making a comeback and so are other major brands.
I'm just really disappointed with Honda's idea of this CR-V styling...
