If you can find a laser/talon/eclipse, from those years, go for it. I don't know if the eclipse was awd, but the talon was, and they're all the same car. You may be right, the laser may be the best option outta the three, cause no offense, but no one really wants em. Most people don't realize they're the same as the eclipse and talon.

A 30000GT probably won't be cheap, if you can even find someone willing to sell. Also, i think insurance is probably quite costly on those. As far as the talon/laser/eclipse, just make sure you check maintenance costs. One of my friends had a talon from those years, and was quoted over $600 to replace the clutch. Apparently, the motor has to be pulled to do it. If you plan on doing that sort of thing yourself, I guess it's not an issue. Also, remember that on AWD, especially older ones, you have about twice as many parts in the drivetrain.
My friend has a 90 or so laser and a 3000GT-VR4 I think its about a 95 or so. He paid like 500-800 for the laser, and 12,000 for the VR4. The Laser is pushing around 200whp at 17psi and it ran a 13.997(I say 14) on race gas, and its FWD.
The VR4:
WRX 13T Turbochargers
650cc Injectors
Supra Fuel Pump
RDR Fuel Pump Rewire
Ek2 Fuel Rail Loop
ESP Downpipe
ESP 3" Test Pipe
Gutted Pre-cats
K&N FIPK
LM-1 Wideband w/ RPM converter
XD-1 Wideband Gauge
Greddy Emanage Ultimate
HKS Turbo Timer
Blitz Boost Controller
DSM Sidemount Intercoolers
Front Mount Oil Cooler (OEM relocated)
Autometer Boost/Vac Gauge
Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge
Autometer Gauge Pod
Vacuum Reduction
EGR Block off (with resistor CEL fix)
Braided Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Trinet Slotted Rotors
DSM Bov
Krant Vents
3rd Gen Lifters
Best run so far is 12.41 at like 19-21.5 psi. (boost controller would peak at 21.5 and settle at 19)
It was out of commission for 6 months because he hit 2nd instead of 4th at the track and hit 9800 and bent some rods and had to drive it 20 miles home. But its fully rebuilt now.
I'd say that these cars are quick but WAY too much work. They'll go fast then break down atleast every other weekend if not every.
