flood damage vehicles
you always hear about such and such company selling flood damage vehicles or whatnot. my question, what would a flood do to a car? i understand the part about a paperweight engine since water got in there, but how hard would it be to fix it up? would you just need a new engine pretty much? also, what other problems could there be with the car other then engine problems? rust would obviously be a big issue, but let's say there was no visible rust.

basically the car is useless and deemed totaled because you'll have electrical problems and the car is going to rust from the inside out.

The car will never be the same. My mom had a 2000 Lincoln LS V8 that got flooded. It was horrible, the car smelled like ***, and the engine was blown. The dealership couldn't do a thing for us, but after about 4 months, through Progressive Insurance we got a new engine.
But I don't think it was a new engine because the car never ran the same. I think that they just rebuilt it. Oh yeah, and all new carpeting from the interior to the trunk. Couldn't notice any sort of odor, but the motor definently was not as smooth. I wouldn't wish hydrolock or any sort of flooding on my worst enemy, it sucks.
