Rep Power: 0 If you want a car that has unlimited aftermarket options, get the 2000. The 7th gen is only on its second model year, so it will be a while before parts start filling up the shelves. Personally, I like my 7th gen's looks a lot better than the 6th gen...

Rep Power: 0 Well if it were me, and thats what I think you're asking, then I'd buy the new one for the following: if I had the money, and I like the 7th Gens look better. I'd buy the 00 for the following: if it was super clean,(NO RICE) and the price was much lower than a new one.

Rep Power: 0 Originally I thought I wanted a new one - so there wouldn't be any problems with the car and 3 full yrs of warranty. Now I read there are some quirks with the new ones.
I see 2000 EX coupe 5 spds going for as little as $12K and with only 21K miles (and one with alloy wheels). The one w/ alloys appears to be a perfect 2000 specimen - although I haven't seen it yet. Still factory warranty remaining, too.
That's $5K - $6K to spend on upgrades/mods or something else.

Rep Power: 0 Well, you really can't go wrong buying a used honda. Since it is only a couple of years old, you are letting someone else take the major hit in depreciation. They 6th gens also have much better suspension is my opinion. Personally, I like the 7th gen interior a lot more as it seems nicer and much more refined. My sister has a 00 coupe so I have had plenty of experience with it.
Buying new gives piece of mind and the fact that you're the only one whom has driven it. When you buy used, you never really know where and what has happened to that car or how it has been driven. I bought mine new because I wanted to own it from the get go as I plan to keep her for at least 5 years. The immediate loss in depreciation is really the only negative to buying new. However, you can't really go wrong with a used honda in most cases.

Rep Power: 0 For performance I'd go with the 2000, alot of swaps available for it, also turbos, superchargers, and lots of internals available for the d16y8 that sits in there. Just my .2 cents.... Peace

Rep Power: 0 djlunatic said it best, i'll just add my own two cents......7th gen interiors are much better, better materials, better seats, more room, more quality (i had a 99 )....the frame is much more rigid, honda claims 40% and i can feel a huge difference, the body pieces are matched together with much more precision, you'll notice that the body panels are all tight and fit together well, look at the gaps on the 6th gens, their huge, and tend to sag really quickly.......

Rep Power: 0 If you get a real good deal on a new Civic the depreciation won't hit you nearly as hard. I just did a check on KBB and a 2001 EX 2-door 5-speed with 18,000 miles has a resale value of $16,115 (which most used dealers will push for). I bought my Civic for $15,830 2k2 EX 2-Door 5-speed (300 over invoice w/no hidden charges at all) + Tax, Tag. So in summary, if you get a good deal on a new one (don't be afraid to walk out) the depriciation won't hit you nearly as hard + you have the security of a new car.

1973: how was the suspension on your '99 compared to your '01? And did your '99 rattle more or less than the '01?

Rep Power: 0 lol.....its the same car with a diff engine and diff suspension. I had a 99 EX before the Si, and it still had less rattles than my 2k1.
needless to say only had it a week...but less rattles!

So is what 1973 said true then? About all the stuff in the 7th gen that's better than the 6th gen?

Rep Power: 0 Its all a matter of taste when it comes down to that I guess...personally I prefer the 6th gen over the 7th gen, with my Del Sol seats I have plenty of head room, the center console is in perfect reach (unlike where I have to reach over in the 2k1), and to me it feels the same quality wise...cant say that for the RSX I test drove

Yeah.......I scratched that one off my list right after test driving it. WTF is honda thinking. It's slow(for the price), plus it feels cheap as h3ll when you drive it, or even if you sit in it.
