meatheads drive them, they think they are the **** just like those dumbass mustang drivers...therefor i hate them. The car is ugly too and i wouldnt want to be seen in one
IMO it's Fugly. It's a great bang for the buck in the performance department. You can get them to push awesome numbers on the stock block. Reliability is suspect. go over to the srt forums and check they're problems section. that'll give you a good idea of common problems. for example boost leak is on almost every car from factory.
just remember looks are personal preference. get what you want.

People on here are always talking about other cars with adulation, imports mainly yes, but chrysler has one of the worst reputaions for building cars that need ten trips to the dealership before their even off warranty......If he had asked should I get the new M3, no one whould have said " keep the civic!.....civic>M3
You deffinatly don't have to like a Srt4 to say you like all kinds of cars.
Its kind of like, I would rather be caught in a sleeper than a car that screams, "Lets Race". I mean if huyndai released a turbo edition elantra, I would rather drive that than any neon, sorry srt-4.
To many people have them because they are cheaper than there competitors. Still a neon to me. Price dont sell me quality does, hense the civic that i own. I paid 18400 for it new, pricey but its a honda baby

yeah a neon in general to me comes off as cheap, or just 'ok.' i love my civic and i would not want a SRT instead of it. my roomie has an srt4, and yes he kills me in a race, but then he gets pulled over for doing 120 in a 35 lol. i cruise by with my stylish ride and bumpin beats, shyea!
thanks for the mixed opinions. you're all entitled to them. I have alot of respect for honda and every and all civics. i love my civic but everyone has in the back of their minds whether or not to trade up. In my case, i'm ready to trade up with the hopes that the Neon SRT-4 will be just as nice a car as my civic is. I'll probably never get an SRT-4 cause i want one stock. i don't think i'll find one stock. they ARE pretty cheap to get. I'm looking to find one thats all stock with low miles and packed with all the goodies and options in it. IMO, the Dodge Neon SRT-4 is a pretty goodlooking car. it's fine with me. and this is comming from a person that was NEVER into Neon's. the regular neons are FUGLY!. but this SRT-4 version of the Neon is sweet!. a mastered peice of art in every way. i think it could last just as long as a civic can but you have to NOT race it every chance you get just because you know that you are pretty fast. i want it for more than JUST the boost. i like the look and style, the HP, the interior, the craftsmanship of it, and the reputation they have. TONS of reasons why i like the SRT-4 Neon. but i'll never forget the civic. my VERY first car. OH, and BTW. the people over at the SRT forums still have yet to make fun of civics or honda. i told them i have one and they didn't say anything bad. they know that honda is the godfather of it all. the car doesn't make the azzhole. the azzhole makes the azzhole. it's all i could or would be able to afford. i also want it too cause i hear that the insurance isn't high or wouldn't go high. i like that. the Neon SRT-4 isn't for everyone. it's found me. i like it. who knows!, i might not be able to even get it man!. i never know which way this will all turn. it's not like i've tried to look around anyways. i'll look around and ask some questions pretty soon. maybe in a few months. i've got other things to do right now. and another thing. if i don't get the SRT-4. i STILL score!, cause i'll STILL have my civic

I just looked at Dogde.com and saw no Neons. Are they not making them anymore? Oh and to answer the thread question. I don't care if it's turboed and they give it the fancy SRT-4 name. Hell even if someone strapped a jet engine to it... It's still a Neon! And Neons, to me at least, are teh suck.
no, they stopped making the Neon SRT-4 in 2005. i think they made a last 2006 model but it's pretty much the same as the 2005 model. this might just be me imagining this LOL. it's not for everyone man. and,.....who the hell cares about cuise control!. i have that on my 02 Ex and i don't even use it. infact. i NEVER use it. along with NEVER using my sunroof too!. LOL. oh boy!. watta waste!.

Go for it. You won't regret it one bit. Around here it's all the Civic guys running around revving their **** and don't have anything to back it up with.Revving at a minivan and get beat.lol If you turbo'd the Civic its reliabilty goes out the window. The Cobalt SS isn't a bad bang for the dollar either. You'd have better chances finding one of those not modded.

i kno im kinda late on this convo but my boy is selling is 2005 sti because he got like 8 tickets and insurance is out the *** and he can't afford it so hes started selling it for 29 k but he needs to get rid of it so he said anything over 25 and its got 10 k worth of up grades runs a 12.99 1/4 pm me if you want his number
the civic's reliability will not go out the window if turbo'd. just like mentioned before it's cutting the corners that causes issues. piggybacks are not a proper way to tune a FI engine.

I would never buy a Chrysler again... not even the new Challenger if I could afford it. I've had a dodge before and suck tons of money into it. It was in the shop more than on the road.
But, at least with my civic I can beat minivans off the line! lol
thanks anyways on the offer of your friends STI. thats a bit too pricey. i'm not looking for something that has been modded. i need and want a stock car. this way i can assure myself that it'll last me. i'll look at the cobalts. eventhough, thats not my kinda car.

Sounds like you and your friends have issues with operator error.
there's a lot of stupid arguments and biased opinons going on in here. Both sides too. Gearbox sorry to say but you are notorious for praising something and then the next week bashing it all to hell how it sucks for whatever reason.
The automobile market is getting better every year. You have to give credit to imports for forcing domestics companies to step up reliability. Competition only helps the indusrty get better. If you don't you burn out.
The srt-4 gave other companies something to think about. A cheap performance car that sold well. Look at the companies that have a performance versions of almost every model now. Most of it was mostly due to the rising interest in tuning cars, especially compacts, but the srt-4 IMO gave it a good kick in the pants.

+1 what about the Cobalt SS Supercharged?. what do you guys know about that car?. cars are so expensive now these days!. i wonder what the monthly payments on the SS Supercharged will be like. are they good cars?. good reviews?.

From what i've read the cobalt can put down some good numbers if you trade the SC for a turbo. They have a strong engine as well. Never test driven one or heard about it's reliability.
oh ok, thats what i thought they meant. umm, nahh, the 205 HP is enough for me LOL. i'm not totally diggen that car anyways. what pisses me off is that the damn 2006 RSX Type-S is like 25K dollars!. what the (F) are they thinking man!!!!?????. who the hell would pay that much for that car? when you can get faster cars for less?. they're WAY overpriced!. if those cars are geared towards the "younger" youth. than why the hell are the monthly payments NO LOWER THAN LIKE 450 TO 370 . what "young person" has the money like that to dish out for that type of car? GOD I'D LOVE ONE OF THOSE CARS 4 REAL!!!. *THE END*

just go around test driving any car thats within your price range and pick the one that feels best. i drove an rsx recently and there is no way i would buy one after that, same with new civic. feels weird. so you just gotta find the best one for you. speed and stuff is important but if it feels like youre driving a boat on wheels thats no good either.
