ummm....shiet...i know i use the middle one, i guess premium..but i dunno what octane it is.....my dealer said the same thing(to use lower octane)..i tried that and it suked!..so i went to premium and it is ok. I havent tried super tho. They tell you to use lower octane because of that ULEV..Ultra low emissions vehicle...My dealer said it doesnt need a high octane.

Because youll just waste money if you use anythign else. You're not going to get and more power or better mileage with higher octane gas. In fact, in my test (albeit unscientific) my mileage was WORST with 94 octane gas.

Don't bother using anything except 87 unless you add a supercharger or turbo. It might be more important which brand of gas you use as opposed to octane. e.g. Sunoco has the lowest sulfer content where I live.

your wrong, you get what you pay for... if you got the extra money, use a higher octane, it burns cleaner and it'll be better for you fuel pump in the long run.

higher octaine makes it HARDER to burn the gasoline. This is why its needed in high performance, high compression, turbo and nitrous engines. read: to resist detonation.

If your car isnt designed to run high octaine fuel and/or if you dont have any performance mods that would require the use of it (ie forced induction or nitrous) its not only a waste of money, it will make LESS Hp with your economy minded powerplant. the end. close this thread.

Usually I just use 87 octane, though every now and then I splurge and go for Premium. I really haven't noticed any performance difference between either, but I'm sure that you always get what you pay for.....though it may not always be big

Higher octane doesn't make the fuel any cleaner. It's true that most gas companies put more detergents in higher grades (or at least they make this claim), but there government regulated minimums even in regular gas. As stated earlier, it may be more important which brand of gas you use. Some will have more crud than others.

You only get what you paid for, if you need it in the first place. If you ever manage to squeeze a turbo in there... then by all means, use premium.

I always go with 87 octane. I've heard to stay away from the really cheap gas stations, as the gas isn't as good from them. Ya'll have any opinions?

I know that it is BS but my dealership tried to tell me that using supreme gas is what blew up my engine....and because I had an empty can of nitroboost aditive in my trunk they blamed it on that too (BTW nitro boost does really work I consistantly ran allmost 2 10ths fast when I had some in my gas tank)

Use 87 like the manual says. The engine wasn't designed for higher octane and don't switch octanes so much. it isn't great on the engine.

The car was designed for 87 octane adding things like the octane boost and the fuel cleaners really doesn't do much good since these cars are designed for 87 octane. If you are concerned about the fuel leaving deposits run the 87 octane and then once every month or two run one full tank of the 91 octane since it burns hotter it will clean out all of the deposits.

Hmm... I thought higher octane really only made a difference for higher compression

Also... the cheap gas stations like Thrifty, AM PM, Arco, UltraMar and other "cheap" gas stations are BAD. So it's better to stay away from them.

I've always stuck with good old Regular 87 octane. I just check to see if that one local State sticker is on the pump. If it's not there, I won't put in gas there.

i think there's no damn difference in any grade of gas other that diesel j/k, but I use 87....& occasionally when I get PAID ..goto 89....& (yes the NOS additive does work) you sure do get what u pay for but when it comes to $1.36/ gallon (HOUSTON) fu<k that just stick with the cheapest anywayz since there is no performance difference..
