YOUR definition of fast
I would like to know what you guys feel is fast for a car on the streets. I'm not talking about drag racing against everything else on the road, I'm talking more in the lines of just daily usage. I understand that #'s only can say so much and power delivery is also very important. But I'm just curious.
My idea: adequate speed/power would be a car capable of 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. Quick car would be around 6.5 seconds. Anything around 5.5 seconds to get to 60 is plenty fast for a daily driven car.

Lol at first I thought your times were quarter mile as I glanced over the post
that would be a funny opinion of speed.......I would totally agree with your numbers if i could take .5 seconds off

as for how fast a fast car is, i don;t know. but i'd like a car that has the pick-up and go whenever you need it. kinda like the STi. you don't need all that horsepower that it has, but it always gets you past slower drivers when you need it!

I predict this thread will go no where, arguments will be started, and it will end up getting closed. Every person has their own definition of fast.
our civics, no really. My first first car was an '89 camry which was uberslow, my second was a used '93 saturn sc2
finally when i got my 7thgen, it felt pretty freakin fast and adequate enough compared to my previous ones,
but after recently driving an rsx type-s(vtec in that thing scared the crap out of me at 6k
) and an sl500 i now realize how slow we are, but i still think our cars are pretty much decent as in power for daily driving,,, for manuals at least, dunno bout autos

With no passengers, and good suspension they are good for what they are made for..... daily driving.....its when you take them for a drive on a road you know and love to drive on that you feel the vast lack of power, I'd say our vic have half the hp to the wheels most of us would like to have.....

see for me it all comes down to like how the car feels, cause u can be in a caddy or a bimmer and be doin like 80+ and feel like you r going slow, so for me a "fast car" would all come from my perception of how fast it is while im inside. but if i had to post #'s, i would say a fast car for me would be running 0-60 in < 7 but thats just me.

Really anycar that can break into 13's is a fast street car. Me I perfer fast bikes and just regular cars. Because we all know fast cars give you nothing but headaches, tickets, and gas bills. A fast bike will just kill you.

my vic has enough power for most roads. Its only when your stepping the pedal into the floor and you still need more that your wishing it was more powerful. I've driven an auto tsx- of course that feels slow at higher speeds, but the vic feels fast no matter what, and most times, its enough power.
But i'm talking without passengers, less gas, no AC, empty trunk, nothing in the back, the front, or in the glove box, and all fluids pretty low.
haha. vroom vroom.

I think there are 2 different types of ideal "Fast" daily drivers for car enthusiasts, and it depends on the driver:
1. The super light sports coupe. The Lotus Elise is the perfect car for the person who wants a super tight, super fun, affordable sports car every day. They don't need luxury when they can out turn almost anything under $100,000, but they won't win too many drag races.
2. The muscle-type car. Handles at least moderatly well, but accellerates very well. I would say the Mustang GT (despite its quality issues) or a 350z/g35 type car would do the trick here. These cars are more comfortable, but still have plenty of grunt and sportiness for daily driving.

Fast to me is my DSM. 12.515@111.873 quarter mile, 8.312@86.34, 1.743 '60.
Not sure on the actual numbers of things, but I know she pulls well on the streets, coasts well on the highway, and when I make sure to lay off the boost gets pretty decent gas milage (about 275 miles a tank).
