my guess would be the volvo hit the cavalier and went up in the air, then as the cavalier went down it hit a tree/pole, when they hit the volvo went up and its front frame hooked on the tree/pole

My take on the accident. It looks like the silver car hit the pole and knocked it down on the road and the volvo hit it. I don't see any damage to the volvo other than where the line and pole got it. That's a weird one. "wow!.....cars on poles rule."

I'm with sen one on this one. Two separate crashes. Me too car knocks down pole, then volvo hits/gets caught on pole in road. The pole is still partially attached at the base, and the friction between the volvo's bumper and the road is keeping it up like that. The volvo must have slowed down significantly before striking the pole. I've never seen anything like that in my nearly seven years on an ambulance. Extricating the driver of the volvo must have been a pain in the @$$, as i'm not quite sure how one would stabilize a car in that position. I like the firefighters in the pics looking like "how the hell are we gonna do this??", as the driver is still in the volvo.

Upon further viewing I think I have a plausible theory on how the car got that way. It looks like the silver car downed the pole and the Volvo was coming from the opposite direction. When the Volvo hit the pole it vaulted the car into the air and the power/telephone/cable line that was still attached to the pole prevented it from falling all the way back to the ground.

thats some crazy ish. I think it would have to happen while the pole was on the ground and that volvo hit it and the pole caught the ground causing them both to go into the air. U will probably never see anything like that again. Good find
