I love my 05 vic, but for as long as i can remember I always wanted a hatch be it a eg or ek, or a ek coupe. 05 vic is my first car, my parents got it for me as a graduation present i chipped in some money for the down payment because I love the car...but I jus want something that I can tune and mod out. I know it's possible to mod a 7th gen but I really want to get down and dirty with the car...and my dad "pms's" when i try to do something to the car in terms of modding. I always liked hatch's and ek coupes...now I have the chance to get one...but is it worth it? Is it a downgrade? I want to know what opinions you have on this? Should i get a hatch or keep em2?

sorry old samsung cell phone camera ain't exactly a canon =/

i've always loved the EK hatch and plan on doing a future project with one. If you sell the em2, you can buy a decent EK and do a motor swap

Sounds like you are facing a similar dilema to what I am. Its not that I have someone getting upset with my modding, its just I cannot afford bills/life/2 car payments + modding. So my wife & I have decided to sell her POS focus now that its almost paid off. Instead of buying a new car (was looking at TC) & getting a new car payment, I am looking at a good condition Integra. But here is my rule of thumb, dont buy an older car if you dont have imediate $ to mod/upgrade/repair. I am buying the intrgra with every intension of having to replace/rebuild the engine as soon as I get it. Then I will have a few hundred dollars comming in every month + a few bonus' in the next 6 mos to do what I want with. So I have decided to go with the older car just because I feel that I will be able to personalize it EXACTLY how I want (relatively quickly) and still have a car that is pretty reliable.

I'd keep it since it's a graduation present. Selling it would be like a slap in the face to your parents.

As far as a daily-driver standpoint, It'd be a downgrade. You're moving to an older car, so the interior will be of lower quality than the EM2. Unless, of course, you can get your hands on an EP3 hatch. Then you've got the best of both worlds. Hatch, and K20.

I have an em2 and woud also like an eg/ek chassis car to mod. If I were you I would keep the 05 and mak it how you want but leave suspension and motor alone. Use it as a dependable daily driver and go all out on an eg or ek. At least thats what I'm doing

yea thats true, i don't wanna lose the reliability of an 05 car with only 12k miles =X thanks guys for your input . And yea lookin at the interiors of old school vics its a real downgrade but in a way I kinda like em tho...my girlfriend gives me a hard time about it because she absolutely hates hatch's of all sorts with a passion...women =/

i ditched an 01 s10 to get my 96 teg. i have no regrets except for the fact that i should have looked it over a bit better before i drove it away. i had to swap the motor 2 months after i bought it. but it only cost about $700 for a low milage b20b with all fluids and such and i did the swap myself. its a much funner car to drive than the 7thgen. now its not as comfortable but compared to a std cab s10 with a gutless 4cyl its a god. no matter what you choose remember that if you buy new your going ot loose value as soon as you drive it off the lot. so if you decide you dont want the payment and need to sell then you will be out the orig. down payment as well as the depreciation of the car

I bought myself an 04 civic coupe and that does not compare to my EG at all....only reason I got my em2 was to use it as my daily driver though....you won't regret getting an EG....they are so FUN to drive once u get the suspension and swap done....goodluck on your decision

to further support the EM2=Daily Driver ; EG=Modded/Fun look at the cost of a kswap for your car. For what u would have in a complete swap installed u could have a swapped eg.

The 6th gen and 7th gen don't have THAT much of a difference in the dashboards, like the climate control area an stuff. I was actually planning to do the same "downgrade". It's either the hatch or I might get a dc2

the money you'll get from selling your vic, will be enough for the ek and a motor swap and some interior upgrade imo.....and i think you'll like modding the eg or ek....

I love them, and I really wanna just get down and dirty and do my own stuff and take apart this and that and just experiment new things you get me? I really cant do anything with the em2 because of warranty issues...don't wanna void it =X but thanks guys again for the responses!
