Powershifting

one of my frineds showed me how to powershift last weekemd, id never heard of it. for those that dont know, its just shifting without takin your foot off the gas when you clutch. my question is, can our cars handle donig that to them? since if you do it racin, its gonna tach out and the shift hard.

ive got a stage 2 clutch, but aside from hte tranny tearin up, will the rest of the motor be able to handle it repeatedly, or am i askin to break something doin that?

I have seen vids where race car drivers powershift and the motor is bouncing off the limiter. THere really isnt an advantage especially on street cars. The engine still needs to lower its speed. It may be better just to time the footing properly between clutch and gas.

drive_fast_dail has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I hope its not too terrible, ive been doing it to mine when im trying to get up to speed fast with everything stock. Just came naturally to me as I was learning to shift, this shifter is real easy to use. Id have to think its pretty bad for the car, so ive been trying keep the techniques use to a minimum.

If you shift fast enough, it shouldnt bounce on the limiter much. Ive never bounced mine, but I usually shift right before the red, and then our car has some room before the limiter so ive never hit it doing this.

You'd do more harm on the tranny from the shocking of the drivetrain caused by powershifting than the engine, your rev limit protects you from damaging your engine by over reving

i do it on my bike all the time, without using the clutch too, but NEVER would do it in my car. trannys arent made to handle that abuse.

Power shifting = you destroying the syncros on your transmission...

have fun replacing them in a few thousand miles.
