Powershifting
Who powershifts here. I was told powershifting is useless and ruins the tranny. Anyone powershift here? I just shift normally but fast. I saw a vid of someone powershifting here and totalled his car.

whats the actual point of powershifting...is it really that big of a deal to step on the clutch? and dont you always get a really bad grinding noise when you do it anyway, which I imagine cant be good for the transmission...

i'm sure honda will fix it if that's what it is, the only way i think they wont fix it is if they can prove the part that you put on is the source of the problem so i'm sure the intake wont be the problem with your tranny..

where i live in florida everyone powershifts when they race. when i do it i put the clutch in for like a second and at that same exact moment im shifting to the next gear. it should be fine cuz whether you put the clutch in 4 a sec. or a minute its still puttin the clutch in. all the rest of my gears are just fine. so there should be no problem. i think i fu*$ed my syncro by doing a burn out at my dumb newbie *** shifted up too much. and it was the smell of clutch burnin after that.

Powershifting is as useful as "double-clutching".
You have synchros.
You have a cable trans.
You have a front wheel drive.
Push the clutch in. Shift. Release clutch.

if powershifting = not using the clutch or not taking your foot off the gas, then no, i dont "power" shift.
however... one time when i was on a lot of nyquil and a lot of coffee, i found out by mistake that you can shift really fast and really smooth if you combine the "clutch in" and "shifter to neutral" motions, and then combine the "shifter to gear X" and "clutch out" motions. this takes your shift from 4 steps down to 2. ive never had grinding issues. the only problems this might cause is increased stress on one's synchros.
PS: then i got my revo ss and wow... shifting is awesome. now i just need more power lol

OMFG
all of you that said powershifting is shifting without a clutch are complete idiots. powershifting is used in drag racing and will not fvck up your clutch nor your tranny more than launching your car would, basically what it is is having the foot on the gas pedal planted at all time even during shifting. http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ft/index.shtml guys god gave you a brain and eyes, brain to think and understand and eyes to read the fvcking info

I never said anything about shifting without clutch in. People just whored this thread and assumed that was what I meant. I meant throwing the shifter in gear with force like the link said except with holding the gas part.
Thats similar to double clutching, but like he said double clutching is for down shifting. And powershifting is shifting without pressing the clutch, and if you dont do it right it will fuc* sh*t up. but if you press the clutch, you will be alright. If you are powershifting in a civic, you're nuts. You'd be better off using your clutch. It's not a camaro, or muscle car. its an import. If you are racing, always have your foot on the gas. But use your clutch to shift. Its safe and quick, If you can shift quick.
