AN AUTO QUESTION...
I was wondering, if i switch my gears too much in an automatic, while im driving...is it really bad for the car...cuz i tend to drop it in 3rd a lot..and sometimes in second...it just gives me a bigger boost, so i do it alot while im driving...is it really bad for my car...or is it okay to do..

I have an auto. civic and never do neutral drops. I occassionally drop it into second its not too goood for the tranny, u will eventually start feeling ur gears slipping in D4 and ull notice the car not shifting at the right rpm's when ur accelerating at top notch. My suggestion dont do it. Get a aftermarket trque converter. They r expensive and hard to find but they do allooooottttt.
my friend has a red 2k1 ex auto and he used to shift his gears...needless to say he had his transmission replaced at 8k miles...the dealer laughed at him for having the first 2k1 to have to have its transmission replaced
Dont shift gears with an automatic. If ur gunna by a new car and know ur gunna put on mods and race it occasionally buy a freaking manual. Thousand or 1500 bucks cheaper. IF the clutch goes out cuz u drive it hard by the clutch with a lifetime warranty cost bout 1100 maybe less. But still u save 400 bucks.

if you're going.. say, 25, and you release the gas and drop it into neutral, how is that bad? you only get high RPMs if you're stepping on the gas, right?

i think a neutral drop is the other way around, reving the engine in neutral, then putting it in gear, like D4.
sorry to say, i accidentally did that once, the car only had 550 miles on it. i was at a light, and i knew i would be waiting for a while, so i put the car in neutral, when the light turned green, i stepped on the gas, the rpms went up to 3000rpm or so, when i noticed i was still in neutral, i paniced and put it in D4, the car jerked, and the tires chirped. i felt like an a$$, but worse, i thought i screwed something up, it doesn't feel like i did, what do you think? neutral drop from 3k rpm, foot off the gas, into D4?
