6 Months For First Oil Change?

I was at the dealer today and he told me to wait for either 5000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first to get my first oil change. Right now I am at about 3.5 months and 1150 miles. Should I wait until the 6 months or go some place else? Anyone else hear somethign similar. Honda sure has confidence in their cars. Thanks for the help.

Before you get flamed hard, I will politely say "Search". This has been discussed before.

All i found was kilometers, no mileage info and I don't feel like converting. Also, there were differing answers on how long to wait for the FIRST change. Thanks for the reply though!

I would just do it at 3,000 miles..... but your oil has been in long enough to change....

Sounds like you do alot of city driving....in this case its well broke in and OK to change.....

u can have ur oil changed anytime u want to, but if i were u, i will wait until u finish the break in period. the dealer won't tell u to wait if they don't know what they're saying, right?

The owner's manual says not to change the oil before 5000 miles. I'm at 7100 miles and I'm thinking that I might start changing the oil every 2500 miles. Is that overkill?

My gf's uncle is a mechanic at Showcase Honda in Scottsdale and he said it is important to wait the full 5k miles if not longer. He said to get it changed ever 5k-8k out here because the summer weather is hotter than hell. For people that do not drive in stressful conditions can go as long as 10k miles w/o changing it. Check the back of your owners manual it will tell you the same thing.
