Road Trip Questions

Well i'm driving from ft.worth to Amarillo, Texas this friday in my 2k1. My main question was setting the cruise.....since it runs slightly over 3,000 at 75, should i set it above 80 for more than a few hours?....is it bad for it to run THAT long at that speed?....besides that, it should be a good trip, it'll take about 5 1/2 hours. if you know of any good tips or pointers that have to do with the civic lemme know.

Well seeign as alot of pre-90's cars were 3 speeds with Cruise they ran around 4k at 75MPH.. so no worries bro..

Also.. try to go exactly 9MPH over the limit so the cops don't hassle you.

how are you going 75 at just over 3K???? for my car 80 = 4000 RPM. i try not to go faster than that cause the VTEC sucks gas on road trips. so what's up with your engine???

Know where the point values and fines go up in your state... here in fl I either go up to 14 over (it goes up at 15 over) or 4 over (no tickets basically for under 5 over)

I have way too much time on my hands This stuff saves me maybe 2 minutes a day tho

dude.. i drove 22 hours to las vegas, nv from vancouver, bc.. the thing i went to it to had horrible wheel alignment (front wheels looked like racing slicks) and was past due by 10,000km on an oil change and air filter replacement. it made it without a problem.. cept for shooting some dust thru the vents a few times.. haha. it also made the return trip after changing the oil, but neither of the filters in the milpitas, ca area.. you'd have to ask pudgsicle about where exactly it was.. anyhoo..

you're good to go.. have fun!

AFlyer, EX/Si's have a different final drive ratio than the DX/LX's (HX has a dif one too). we have closer gearing so we can stay in VTEC all the time. And so you can downshift to 4th on the highway and use VTEC for passing.

I ran from Biloxi, MS to Dallas. Which is about a 8-9 hour drive running close to 85-90 the whole way (ran 110 for about an hour from Alexandria north up I49). If your car is broke in, it won't hurt it one bit

Just last weekend I went on a bit of a road trip down to St. Catherines, Ontario. The trip was about 1400km (890 mi), and I was averaging at least 120 km/h (75 mph) the whole way. Everything ran smoothly, I didn't have a single problem. Well other than the speeding ticket I got on the way back (doing 160 km/h in a 100 km/h zone). But my point is, our cars seem to be perfect long distance travelling with their INCREDIBLE gas mileage (more than 650km on one tank!) combined with decent power, large passenger and cargo volume, and overall very smooth ride. That's just my two cents.... well, when you convert my two cents into US dollars, it works out to be more like one cent...... so I guess that's my ONE CENT....
