I had the best Honda dealership in the state do mine.....they did an excellent job and quickly too, only took a week and a half. $2760 in parts and labor. Only one with an in-house bodyshop in the state. If you want to get some aftermarket parts out of it, just have the place that does your estimate do the prices for OEM parts. Usually more expensive then aftermarket if you go to a legit place. Then, when you get your insurance check, use the money on the parts you want.

Well, the claim's guy came buy and took a look at my car today while I was at work and left paper work saying that the damage was only like $2500, which I don’t get how he could give a proper estimate, seeing I had the keys to my car and that he couldn’t check under the now new JDM raised hood. lol. I know for a fact that 2500 won’t cover what has been done... I mean my car wont even start... is there anyway I can get someone else to look at my car or what? Should I take it to Honda and ask them to give an estimate? I had my mom take pix of the car for my records, i dont think it was with a digi...i would go and take the pix myself but i dont live too close to my mom and the car is at her house, but i'll try

well thats how it works. they do a rough estimate, then you take it to the shop and give the estimate to them, and any additional money they need they bill insurance. My first estimate was $5k but at the end it was more like $8k.

I took my car to get a few estimates and when i picked a place my insurance adjuster looked over the estimate and made his changes. I just pointed out EVERY little thing wrong with my car to the guy who did the estimate. had him look up all oem parts, which are expensive, and brought them my own tsunami bumper and seibon cf hood. showed them a bill for it and they cut me a check. I also kept the grill and cover at home so they added that to the estimate, then i told them i didn't need it. So the money for oem bumper, lip, grill, and for painting old hood and lip went towards my aftermarket parts. I would've MADE money if I'd brought them aftermarket headlights in time.

The rough estimate from the insurance company is always a lowball. Especially if, as you said, the car won't start. Did you get hit or hit on the battery side? Might be that it shattered your battery or dislodged the plugs. If it isn't that it might be MUCH more serious than that.

Did your airbags go off at all? That's usually a reason right there for an insurance company to just total the car.

Best thing I can say if try to check the battery(if possible) and if it is driveable at all bring it to a good body shop that can also repair engine damage and such. They will give a good estimate and even be able to see if there's any engine problems.

I just hope, for your sake, that you have collision and a low deductible.

Ok, what happened was, I took my car to a shop to get the breaks done about 10 days before the accident... I when I was driving home from my moms place, the lug nuts came loose and the right front wheel came off. I didn’t think that it was too bad, seeing that I felt that there was something wrong and began to slow down, but the rim ripped the entire fender off popping some of the hood up, scratching the hell out of my door and dragging my bumper for about 20 feet, after all this my car was still running. I then called AAA, and when he got there we got the tire back on I went to try and start my car and it just click like crazy, but all the lights dome lights went on but the car wont start at all so the car had to be towed. Now I don’t think that it was the shops fault so I wont post the name and place till I find out for sure.
