Anyone thinking of waiting for the 9th gen?
Anyone thinking of waiting for the 9th gen?
I have been thinking about this myself. The 8th gen looks good, but does it really give that much more than the 7th gen to justify trading in a well running one for an 8th gen. I will definitely not buy a 2006 8th gen. I learned the mistake of buying a first year with my '01. I will probably get an 07 or 08 after getting some value out of my '01. I am also hoping for variable intermittent wipers in the LX and hopefully returing the split back seat, even though I have never used it.

Civic are only to get larger.... until they start remembering how to use space better, and put back double wishbones..... not sure if I would go for 9thgen.

They should have kept the 7th gen design on the civic (a money making one for Honda) and brought back the Prelude, with an all new design and put that 06' SI motor in. "If it aint broke don't fix it"

Sure its nice to have the latest and greatest, but do I need it? Hell no! Do I want a new car? Of course. Hopefully, the Civic will last untill the 10th gen comes out! I doubt it though cuz I've recently hit 95k miles.
The whole reason that we don't get a Civic hatch is because all the people that want Preludes are basically telling Honda that they want a fast coupe.

As of right now, I'm never buying a civic newer than the 7th gen, unless honda stops inflating their cars. New cars are getting WAY to big for my tastes, and i like small nimble cars.

In 2 years Ill be faced with the question of whether to keep the civic or get something completly new, and I will probably get an 8th gen Si.
I've been pretty disappointed with this Civic. My '88 Prelude and '89 Civic both ran excellently well into the 200K mile range before I had to do any major maintainence. The '89 was probably the best civic I've ever owned - and it seemed mre peppy than our 7thgen EX. I've replaced so much on our 2002 7thgen that I don't think I'll ever own a civic again.
And we only have 60K on it...
Rear wheel speed indicatior
Front Struts
Manual Transmission
Trunk repainted due to factory weld spatter rusting in the paint
...just to name a few
Honda will have to make one kick-*** car for me to buy another.

I'm sticking with the 7th till it dies. I'm not buying another new honda again. Next time I'm going for a lude, or something pre-smog that I can mod any way I want. Honda has lost it's roots. A good, RELIABLE car. They are no longer that. Not to mention that the price of a civic SI is starting to rival a REAL luxuary car.
Sorry Honda.

Maybe Ill give my 7th gen to my girlfriend when we graduate and Ill get an 8th gen Si. That or we will both get new 8th gens. I can't see why anyone would wait for the 9th gen as the 7th gen will be around another 5 years. if anything get an 8th gen and later get a 9th.
I personally just don't want any hugely expensive cars for a few years till after I have graduated and got settled. Then bring on the italian cars haha!
