Honda Fit
I am seriously thinkin about trading in my vic n getting one of these. I think they look pretty cool. Only thing I was really upset about was its weight. I expected it to be much lighter than its 2471 lbs.(MT)/2551 lbs.(AT) frame. My 2002 Civic LX auto weight spec is 2421 lbs. If I got a Fit, id get the Fit Sport w/MT cuz my auto isnt fun nemore, lol. And between the two, which would win..the Fit Sport w/MT (109hp/5800--105torque/4800---10.4:1 compression) or 01-03 vic ex w/MT...

Well, the Auto has paddle shifters... that's the only reason I'd buy a small car with Auto trans.
If you do get it, consider it well and much. Spend time on the Society of Fit (Honda USA website) and read about it a little more, have fun while deciding.
I think the Fit is very nice looking and will be a good competition for other small 5 doors on the market. Too bad I don't like 5 doors.

very cool cars, more up-to-date than 7th gens, but the power-to-weight ratio isn't there. The fit with the AT weighs more than the civic with the MT. The d17 also makes more torque, so I wouldn't expect the Fit to beat the EX.
However, that's not what the Fit was made to do. It looks like a very cool, practical car. I don't think you could go wrong with the Fit.

well, the Fit is in a different class. My family is looking to get a Fit. Of course Civic has 200CC more to play with. Now, the weight, it's not that heavy, but it does come standard with 6 air bags.... perhaps something to consider. And at the starting price, I would get more than what I had on my 02 LX.
If youre serious about modding, dont forget about K20 swap which has been done many years ago!

Well what really sold me is not only how cool it looks and how it comes with a factory lip kit (if you get the Fit Sport), but also how the front seats lay flat down so you can use it basically as a recliner (picture below)...and also all that free space you can give yourself in that car is amazing too...as for aftermarket parts, they dont have much of anything out for it yet except for a couple exterior mods and even fewer engine mods...hell, people in austrailia are waiting for the US introduction so we can make more aftermarket parts for it (i.e. supercharger)....altho mugen has a Fit outfitted with a supercharger, theyve only used it as a show piece...they havent produced it and made it available to the public yet...and knowing Mugen, it'll probably cost just as much as a K20 swap, if not more...

I don't know how someone could seriously buy that thing.
Not just that one, all of them.Smart,Prius,Wave,Aveo,Scion XB, etc. etc. I couldn't care if they got 100 mpg.My *** wouldn't even get in one.
This is also possible with the Scion TC.

Ah, well, you do have a point. It's in the Civic and we still get cut off, as you said.
IMHO, the Civic at least feels like a long car in comparisson to most cars on this budget, although it is not. (Coupe, 175.4 inches; sedan, 174.6 inches; Corolla, 178.3 inches)
I dunno, may be that I am crazy or something.

Sure I have some pretty quick cars but i don't mind my Civic, but that's is the smallest i'll go.
I sure wish my car was newer

I'm hoping all of those damned cars (except for the Prius since it's a hybrid) die the embarassing death of a Tomagatchi.

The awesome aggressive styling? The great power? The availability of overpriced crap Mugen parts that are only marginally different from stock and make it 1/100 of a second faster but will cost more than buying a car that didn't suck to begin with? The Civic at least makes up for being underpowered by looking like a decent car. If people want "stow 'n go" capacity, they should buy their mom's old Odyssey so their mom can get that Lexus RX she's been looking at.

A tiny smart car darting? Well, first, the idiot shouldn't be darting because that just makes them an *******. Second, it's a moot point because I'm faster with a pair of New Balance running shoes than these garbage toy cars are. They're not darting anywhere.

how could ive been so stupid, of course these cars suck, since youre faster than them (heck uter is faster than them), maybe we should all ride on your back.but anyways, edmunds review is out, they report the Fit accelerates to 60mph in the 9 second range, and does the salom at 67mph. Thats faster than any non k20 7th gen civic. 7th gen si took it to 60 in a sluggish high 8 second range.

Well, Japanese are bringing them because they save gas and you save money. You do remember that the world is on an economic crisis due to petroleum prices, don't you? (In the style of the 70s crisis in USA). Heck, go buy yourself a Suburban or a Hummer and try to survive easily! You'll need a second job just so you could pay the gas! What's "cool" is that you can have affordability, economy, ease of mind because the car won't turn into pieces or not start a week after you buy it (I've got friends who's Detroit-made cars stop functioning the week after they bought it, no ****!), comfort, money on your pocket and your gas tank on Full always.
"Stow and go" capacity. I don't want no stinking Odyssey! That's way too big for me. I'll never buy a minivan. But, hey... a K-car in which I can put a bicycle inside (and not in pieces!). Now that's something impressive. That I'd buy.
You do know that Tamagotchi are not dead, don't you? Just go to your nearest toy store. You'll see it: they just evolved. Same as will happen with most cars. Open your eyes, read about the industry! You'll notice the trends!
Yes, a tiny smart car darting. They may be slow, but they can move sideways and distract huge-ute drivers really fast.
Right. Go Flash, go. BTW, when has speed become an important factor when buying an economy car? If you want speed, you're looking at the wrong segment, bud.

A lot of Americans won't like this car because its not big and its pretty bare bones. That being said, a lot will because they're just looking for either a) a 'city car', a concept that hasn't really caught on as much in North America as it has in Europe or b) an entry level car.
This isn't a sports sedan, or even a 'sporty sedan', its a cheap, efficient car that you can haul stuff around in if the need be. Who's talking about darting or refridgerator boxes? Its just a handy, cheap car, thats all. If you need to go on a long highway trip, you can rent if you want more passing power, I have a Mazda3 2.3L and I usually rent on long drives myself...
As for safety, the entire thing is essentially one giant airbag and because its smaller and lighter theres less inertia when theres a collission, meaning less force upon impact for whatever it hits and theres less of a chance of roll-over (unlike larger SUVs/trucks). Go look at it's safety rating vs. larger vehicles.
The average person won't be trying to go fast or putting on Mugen parts, their accelerator will never see the floor, why? Because they're going to drive these cars nice and slow and **** off the ******* in big cars who seem to like to tailgate everyone else.

at a starting price of 13k, this car clearly wasnt meant for looks or speed. im surprised it even looks as good as it does. you guys are hating on it for the wrong reasons. and a honda odyssey? cmon man, that minivan is over twice the price of a fit.
There is nothing cool about this lame, ugly, stupid, underpowered car. All this "ugly, boxy cars are cool" trend started by Scion xB has gone too far. It has to be stopped, now. Quickly!
Can't they just make cool little sedan or coupe with some nice chasis, hp,turbo,AWD and price it reasonable ?!! Kinda like Subaru WRX. They all running around looking for some magic buying formula. There is your formula right there! I personally think that there is something seriously wrong with people who buy such stupid cars like Scion xB. Noone in their right mind would go and be willing to waste their money on such ugly, horrible, underpowered car. Doesn't make any sense !!!

The fit is a hundred times nicer than an xB, not like i would ever buy either, but the fit isnt bad for what its supposed to be, a subcompact car. Its unfortunate about the weight really, but modern safety is just getting ridiculously heavy. At least in my opinion, I rather risk it and have a car thats a lot lighter. With 6 airbags and a low starting price a one year old car might get totaled if all the airbags deploy, just because of the cost of the airbags being replaced and the damage they do to the car when they deploy.
