2k for the parts and 1k for labor but the mech. told him it would be sick after he gets the swap..cause he will be able to tune the gear ratio better the the stock ration..i dunno bout that but my friend is all happy saythin he can finally do somethin while he is drivivng , he's always been complainin that an auto is no fun cause all i do is shift to the D then drive ....i just wanna see if the swap will be as good as the stock tranny

your friend is crazy, but to each his own I guess. he should of gotten a 5-speed to begin with. they are cheaper than automatics and he would have $3,000+ now that he could spend on rims, system, i/h/e, etc. his loss, not yours. don't stress yourself over it.

I swapped the auto tranny to a manual tranny on my first car after I turbo charged it and it didnt cost me anywhere near 3000 dollars.

Actually it cost me about $500 for the tranny and $500 for labor. And it was quite a job!

$3000 sounds a little steep to me. And it does kinda suck that they paid more money for an auto when they coulda had a stick shift ride for less.
