please explain the difference between....

what is the horse power at the wheel?
at the flywheel?
at the motor?


i've read soe articles that say our cars have only 106hp.....but the "sticker" claims to be 127....someone please explain this concept of the hp at the wheels and all this...thanks in advance

flywheel....HP for motor itself
wheels...HP after power used for everything else (ie, A/C, power steering....junk like that)

hp to the flywheel is the hp that is transferred from the engine to the "Flywheel" of the car which is part of your clutch mechanism

hp to the wheels is to your actual "wheels" the power that makes it after your auto or manual tranny has sucked power, ac, etc

thats what ive always been told

on average you loose about 15% hp on a two wheel drive car from what the motor makes to what gets to the wheels........
