So, this kid comes up to me and lunch and starts talking sh*t about my car, so I challenge him to a race...he has an auto 1999 Ford Mustang V-6....with a system. Do you think I can take him? I have a stick EX...coupe...

give it a try. i've scirmished with V6 stangs, and i seem to beat them for some reason, must be auto's or something. but yea, definatly try it out, see what happens. it's not the end of the world if you loose, just tell him how much bigger his engine is. Plus his car cost more, and the interior is junk.

his car is an automatic wat would it matter if he was good or bad driver all he does is just put his foot down and stomp on the pedal. i think it depends on how long the track is. if its long he will win if its short u will win cuz of the manual advantage.

I think you can take em... if an auto LX can take a stick V6 convertible up to 60 km/h then an EX stick shud take it easily

Well in Canada i'm pretty sure Stangs cost more. like 25-30g Canadian.

EDIT: I checked, and the cheapest Stang is 22k before DEST. A Civic Si here is 19800 before Dest and Tax.

Actually, he will beat you. My brother has a 96 V6 w/ 150 horse and I can barely beat him. New ones w/ 190 will kick eat you for lunch. Just go egg his car for talking $hit to you.

if his car was stick.... damn would u be in trouble. Ive ridden in one of those before and its about as fast as the previous generation mustang gt. Since he's auto tho... you should have no trouble beating him. I raced a 2000 stang auto convertable in my auto lx and smoked him.

You WILL win. If you don't than u just suck. Those cars are crap and very slow, and just some little FYI. Horsepower numbers are nothing, same for torque, my old truck had 210hp and 260lb of torque; and my stock ex coupe is faster. Don't listen to numbers. Also even if he has a stick, I doubt he will win, unless he has changed out his rearend for some higher gear ratios or something. Either way, Good Luck, but you won't need it. I disagree. if all the time's i've raced mustangs, other than V8 Mustangs, I've won. And I've raced quite a few V6 mustangs. all piloted by males. surely one of them was a standard?

I've seen an older Civic beat an auto 00 Mustang V6 at a drag strip plus I regularly beat them with my 00 V6 Cougar so I'd say take him!

i got my @ss handed to me when i raced a (duno wat year) but a 5.0liter mustang... i just wanted to race, n no one was on the street.. he had an auto.. and i drive a auto EX

Let us know how you do if you race. My wife drives a 2000 convertible Mustang with the V6. I've driven both cars and know for certain that you cannot win. Good luck anyway and have fun. Only race for lunch money.

The guy that drives the stang is my bud.. he can drive stick well... he knew he was racing... so that clears up all that for you.. they are slow cars... they out weigh us by about 1000 pounds
He did however have a bag of sand in the trunk since its winter, but its still pathetic

U might have a slim chance if he gets a bad start. Other than that he's gonna win. If his car was a stick he'd kill ya. But about his car costing more than yours, around here a civic ex cost more than a v6 mustang.
