Hello gentelmen, I just paid 4000$ to have my mustang fixed so Im selling that POS and getting a used civic. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on buying a used civic are there any years/models to avoid? Are they reliable? Any other comments or advice are welcome. Not sure if its relavent but I plan to pay about 3000 for it and get a 5spd manual.

Wow that a really funny picture! I didnt even this that it was real at first but what are the odds?

Yes Hondas are very reliable when taken care of like they are supposed to (scheduled maint/ oil changes. Just the ususal) and I think you knew that because otherwise why would you come to a civic site?

What year?.... for 3K I dont know what I would go with. The car is going to have about 100k miles on it (just a guess) or more which is fine cuz these cars will run beyond 200K.. Maybe you could get a 6th gen (96-00) DX is the base model (no pw windows etc), LX is the next highest, followed by the EX which is top of the line except for the Si. I cant think of any particual problems with this year but I dont know tons about that year. I've also heard good things about the 5th gen.

IF u get a Honda u can go wrong

7thgen civic wise, don't get the 2001-2002 models
they were the first new models releases and all new models have design flaws.
Get the 03 or 04's

If the si hatch is your flavor of choice, I'd say they are all good.

If older hatches are to you liking; I suggest the 98 Civic hatch back, My personal Fav.

I would tend to agree, though luckily, I haven't had the number of problems that other 2001 owners have complained about (probably due to the fact that mine is one of the last of 2001s built, but I couldn't say for sure).

A lady I used to know owned nothing but Hondas. She told me that Hondas were very reliable, but that I needed to "always, always, always" do the scheduled maintenance to keep them that way.

Other than a couple of blown struts (replaced under warranty), mine's been great.
