Door Skin

Hey. I just wanna know if the door skin is welded to the door panel. How hard is it to take it off the door anyways? thx

Uh... ok sorry i need to make myself more clear. I got side swiped, and i need to fix my passenger door.
Parts 28/29 is what i'm talking about. Either that or i need to buy a whole new door.

He means the outer sheet metal of the door. The part that *** holes ding with there car doors. I think it is welded on but I'm not positive. I have my old door in my basement I can go take pics if you want.

I guessing if they do sell the part separately, it shouldn't be welded on.

its probably edge rolled and welded. Usually the way to get it off is to strip the door down and take a grinder to the edge, you basically grind the skin away from the rolled edge and peel it off, then "glue" the new skin on to the door frame, once it dries, you take a roller tool or a mallet and anvil and roll the edge over.

^^^ yup thats pretty good, they are glued then rolled or "pinched" there are spot welds on the top of the skin under the belt molding, this is a very difficult process, i highly recomend taking it to a bodyshop

Damn sounds like a b*tch to do. I've worked with radiator supports that has tons of spot welds. They aint fun. So this means i have spend the money to buy a whole new door. Thx guys.
