Everyone that says just ignore them and be on with your life is right. No sense in starting **** with them. Just defend your car by letting them know you like it, and it does what its supposed to given its nature. They will rip on you all day about it (god knows i do it to many people and I OWN a civic too). Some say we are hillbillies, maybe thats true but theres nothing wrong with that. They stand behind their v8's just like you do your 4 cyl.

That used to be true, that the s2k produced the most hp/liter of any N/A engine made, but Ferarri or Lambo or someone with a car worth more than my life insurance policy just beat it.

An interesting website the meatheads put together:

http://members.tripod.com/~juan_espero/lowpro.html

Notice how he tries to set us up for a kill in the first paragraph, and then as he gets farther down hes just like ohh well 300>100. I started laughing when I read that page.

I used to drive a '99 Trans Am, so I used to be in the crowd that you're talking about. I hated everything import, blah, blah, blah, but I was a stupid kid back then. I wouldn't go picking on civics, preludes and integras, but if one wanted a go at me, I would take them on...and I smoked every single one of them...in a drag race. That's what the American V8s are good for. They are designed to go fast in a straight line. I loved my Trans Am, but I also recognize its weak points. Honestly, for the dollar, they have a point, they're very cheap and easy to mod...when they talk ish just tell them "I like a challenge." and leave it at that. Either that or tell them to go fight it out with each other. The main reason I didn't pick on imports was because I hated Mustangs even worse! There's enough of a feud there (Ford vs GM vs Dodge) that they shouldn't even be talking crap to you.

I dunno I like domestic cars and imports. I like imports more of course, but the domestic guys around me give me respect because I give them respect. I mean crap you have to give a little to get a little... I just can't wait for the one day when all car lovers can rejoice....

And destroy motorcycles!!!! lol

here is an obvious one.
its more impressive to push 600 hp out of a 4 banger than to push 600hp out of a v8

Exactly..........honestly you do not have to defend what you like! Most ignorant asses do not understand. They think that when you tweak some good hp numbers out of a 4cyl that it will become unreliable. Well look at drag 4cyls that go half seasons making huuge hp when a v8 can't get dwon the track half the time. Besides how many people do you know messing with v8's that are doing some thing different and not some thing that has been done for 50 years now. I would say ignore them and when you build some thing you like and have fun with it thats all that should matter. For me its because most every one I used to be friends with said its dumb or can't be done that makes me want to do it. I have a 1971 240z and every one keeps saying stuff a v8 in it........i say man up and go rb25det and still have my handling. Do not let them get you down just take it in stride and know that you are doing what you want to do and if they do not like it then poo on there corn flakes.

Oh man I loved that one. My Civic was made in Ohio while the Camaros at my school were made in Mexico.

BAM.

And for that post about 600hp out of a 4-cylinder versus 600hp out of a V8... show me a single reliable D17 making that kind of power... anyone...?

Idiotic. Even if it's got 600hp, it's most likely running on 100-octane race fuel and completely unstreetable. There are 500-600hp streetable pump-gas V8s running around though.

(The most powerful 4-cylinder is a Chevy engine. lol. Cavalier, yo!)

actually, this thread isnt really about the d17 at all- more like: 4cylinder engines in general, tho i do appreciate your input..

for anyone whos interested- this post was also put up at the other forum i spend a lot of time at- http://www.starquestclub.com/forums/...er=asc&start=0

interesting read. apparently my engine (the 2.6l mitsubishi)- maxed out of course- is capable of 900hp and a ~7sec 1/4 mile.

milba has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Nissan used to race GTRs in Bathurst (One of australias most famous races) but were BANNED because Holden commodores (v8) and ford falcons (v8) simply could not keep up. This was after the GTRs had to carry an additional weight load (to match the weight of the commodore/falcon) and had their awd system disabled (because commmodores and falcons used the FR layout only) and they still hauled *** enough to get BANNED. lol

^^ and the skunk 2 9 second all motor rsx is running stock crank block....sleaved but well 15-1 compression will break oem's. The point was not to say that every body here can make 600hp. My point was certain 4cyls can make that power and stay together for long periods of time look at nopi and such watch how long they run there motors. Besides its easy to hit high hp numbers from v8's I had them and I had a very quik ford truck and all I did was a head swap and gained alot of hp. To me its just boring and the people I met where dicks. Every one I have met that is really into imports are coo peeps and much more open minded about all cars and not stuck on one model.

The whole argument of a 600 hp I4 doesn't really do anything for me because I can find lots of V-8's making in excess of 1200 hp.

My Trans Am and all my friends' Camaros/Firebirds, were assembled at a plant called St. Therese in Canada. And my Civic was built in Ohio. All LS1 F-bodies (Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am) were built in Canada. When they tell you to support the economy, tell them to blow it out their asses and get a freakin job! Oh, and tell them your buddy with a Trans Am said it too!
