dash + super glue = ?
Okay, so today I bought a Cobra radar scanner and it kicks ***... first hour i used it I picked up every single cop I went by and a few nice cars (guess that they had radar detectors also). OK, so anyway, I mounted my Cobra to the dash and the adhecive on the velcro sucks. The one side sticks nicely to the radar detector but the other side doesn't really stick to the dash at all... I cleaned the dash but now the sticky side doesn't have that much "stick" left on it, if you know what I mean. Sooo is using super glue (just one little drop) on the dash going to hurt it.. I'm just thinking years in the future if I get a new one or something... any input is helpful THANKS

I wouldn't use super glue if I were you.
I had a problem like this with my Air Spencer thing...the two-sided adhesive didn't really work that well at first, like you said...it didn't have that much "sticky" left...but I just let it sit there for a day and it's on pretty securely now. Maybe you should try that...

okay, I'll let it just sit there but if it still doesn't work, what should I use?
and by the way I don't want to use that suction cup thing... too easy for cops to see it. (and yes I've had friends that have been pulled over and had their detectors taken from them...)
I pretty much want velcro so i can take it off and throw it into my glove compartment fast if I even do get pulled over.

It's pointless to mount it flat on the dash. If there was a cop BEHIND you, then you would probably get screwed because it can't get a view of the rear.
It will work great if there is a cop in front of you however. I guess it's better than nothing...
Just go down to Home Depot, and get some heavy duty velco!
-Clean off the dash where you are going to mount it with warm water, or if you have been using something like Armoral, you might want to use a little bit of rubbign alcohol
-Clean the unerside of the radar the same way
-Slap the velco on the radar (both sides of the velcro)
-Then just mount the radar down on the dash where ever you want.
-Note: If you have any sticky stuff left on the dash, and it wont come off, then go buy some "Goo Gone". You can get it from Home Depot, and it will remove the stickyness
Have fun!
P.S. You might have to watch out during the summer though, your dash can get hot, and the velco might get unstick, and peal off!

Velcro sucks pretty bad in my opinion, get some 3M double sided stick tape like the kind used by auto stereo installers and your set. That stuff sticks like glue and wont kill your dash..... Good Luck.
Oh just my 2cents but mine is a Passport 8500 set up over the rearview mirror like BAK. Setup kicks ***.... Lata

ya might wanna try buying a dash cover... and if you have the rough side of the velcro on the radar detector it'll stick to the dash cover... and the good thing about a dash cover is that you save your dash from sun damage
i have a bell 980 with suction cups for the windsheild
you can also put the radar detector in the visor if your cord is long enough
it works better on the visor. exspecialy on hills
don't use glue

A dash cover eh? Smart idea just as long as it's a plastic version. If it's the carpet ones, I'm gonna smack you for even thinking about getting one
Many of you guys are also missing the point, he/she doesn't want to use suction cups because it's more visable, and where he lives (New Jersey) it's illegal to have a radar detector. I still say go for the heavy duty velcro idea
When you decide to get rid of it or whatever, you can just use some "Goo Gone" and remove the sticky residue that's left behind

I find that it is easier to see on the dash unless the shield is blacked out. Mine is 32% and you cant see my suction cups on the shield at all. Just pop it off if you get stopped. If it was on the dash it would be easily seen by passing cops.....

Yeah whaver say what you want to say...I think it's just the false reassurance that the radar detectors gives me.
However, I'm not like some people who think that you should rely on your radar 24/7...
