Unhappy What is flex pipe?

I've been hearing some sounds from my car lately, my friends tell me that it sounds like i have a turbo, but i Don't.

Some people have told me to check my intake to see if it has a hole in it. And some have told me i have a leak in flex pipe?

Thanks.

flex pipes i hate them i have had many burns from those things they are braided metal kinda looks like a chinese finger trap. ours dont have them but it was more common back in the early 90s and it did exactly as the name suggest it was a flexible pipe that allowed to pieces of solid piping to move around if need be. or in my case leave weird looking scars all over your forearm.

The braided metal allows for some movement which makes the pipe less rigid and less prone to breaking under stress.
