Salvage civic??
Does anyone on this forum have a civic that they bought salvage. Lets say the car was totalled out, and then someone fixed it, and then you bought it and the title says rebuilt salvage?? any problems with the car??
no offense, but what does it matter? each salvage is different. each totalled car is different and can be fixed. if you are looking to buy a salvaged car, get a trusted mechanic to check it out, you may find an amazing deal. but remember, resale is a bitch
Selling a salvage vehicle isn't hard, but yes some people would'nt even touch them. I have fixed four so far; a 96 Grand Am, 94 Dakota, 99 Accord, and a 98 Durango. No problems with any of them and no problem sellign them. Made lots of quick cash. Currently working on an 02 Saab 9-3 turbo. Personally there is nothing wrong a salvage vehicle.

No, nothing wrong with it if done RIGHT. And that is the keyword here.
A lot of places don't do it RIGHT, when halfass is good enough. I've seen both sides of that coin. A properly done salvage can be as good as any good used car. A bad one.... well, let's not even start.
A car can be Salvage for a lot of reasons, Impact not being the only one. I wonder how many flood damaged cars are being sold out there right now?
Point is, I would buy a salvaged car if I need to save money and don't plan to re-sell anytime soon. But I'd check it out very carefully first to make sure everything is done and in order.

I totaled 2 cars (a Mustang and a '94 civic DX) and fixed both to resale them. I've also helped a few friend with fixing up salvage cars. The main thing is find out what happened, you can generally run a car fax report and find out. In short, stay away from flood damage cars, they ALWAYS seem to have electrical problems that are never fixed, this sensor and that sensor. If it was a crash, that is hard to say because it depends on what exactly was hit and how hard, both of mine where pretty minor and easy fixs. But to do it professionally would have cost an arm and leg, so the insurance just totaled the car. So play those by year. A theft recovery is generally the easiest because you know exactly what is wrong up front and there aren't any "hidden" problems like strucure problems or sensor problems. That's my .02

my gf drives a salvaged 02 LX sedan and its been perfectly fine since I fixed a few of the left over probs (wheel bearing, cv boot, front suspension bushings, alignment). It drives as good as any new civic does

It's like flipping a VERY expensive coin. Some salvage repairs are done correctly and you never know the difference. Some are cars that are horrible that people fix up enough just to sell and and make a profit. The latter will probably wear tires quicker, not be alignable, have electrical gremlins, and have all sorts of nickle and dime problems. I'd get a salvage for a race car, or a salvage title truck (something that you can get a new frame for and transfer the pieces), but I'd avoid a salvage unibody car.
