Totaled car?

I got into a bad wreck last week. I rearended someone in my 04 civc ex. The air bags didnt go off but the frame is possiblly bent with engine damage. The adjuster looked at my car in the tow yard and there was 9k of damage so far. Now it is going to the body shop so it can be looked at further. The insurance company said something about the fender needing to be taken off in order to check for more damage. They also said 70% of the value needs to be the cost of repairs in order for them to salvage it. How likely do you think it is that this will be totaled? The chp officer, the worker at the tow yard, and the tow truck driver have all said it is totaled...but why isnt it then? Im really worried cause i know this car will never be the same. Im really hoping this is a salvage. I had it towed to an expensive body shop...but is there anything else that can be done? I would really appreciate any feedback...im so stressed out.

Well an 04 EX coupe is worth about 13,700 and the sedan is worth about 14,000

So 70% of the Sedan is about 9,800.... So if the adjuster allready wrote a sheet ro 9,000, then theres a very good chance they will total it.

with that much in damage you want it to be written off....Cars after large accidents never run the same when there repaired.

it is very possible that the subframe is bent. these cars are designed to collapse on impact. it safer for the driver but it totals cars easily. if you air bags didnt go off and the car is totaled i would call honda and get your ducks in line because you could have a big law suit on your hands against honda.

if the car is totaled try to get the airbags out of the car becuase they are worth a bunch. I know two people who own junk yards and they tell stories of how people will go to great lengths for airbags.

slip the mechanic an extra $50 or $100 to help insure that it's a total loss. Trust me, much less hassle later when trying to sell your car.

hmmm... i dont know. i got in a pretty bad wreck in my 04 as well. head on into a median. airbags were deployed, windshield cracked in 3, two bent rims, no more front bumper, lights, etc... fenders were bent as was the hood. and engine pushed back 3-4 inches.. yet they still managed to claim it as 68% damaged.. $10k+ in damages... they repaired the whole car in two weeks.. ugh. brings back memoriess...

hopefully they salvage yours..

well yes you can. realistically if you have any sort of injuries honda is liable because their safety system didnt operate properly. they put your safety at risk when your air bag didnt deploy.

I had a Service contract dispute that went all the way through the arbitration clause in the contract and I won.

The mounting point for the clutch slave cylinder broke (which means the transmission bell housing casting broke) and honda denied the repair citing that they "do not warrenty modified viehicles what so ever" which is contrary to their contract.... took 5 months, but I got my $1900.62 back (what it cost me to repair the damage)
