Test drove a 5spd corolla s and im afraid its faster than my 5sd ex. Dohc really makes a huge difference! Get ready to lose to this spictacular ride!

some of u guys are too funny. my first car was a 93 corolla. with custom instake, custom exhaust, and a drop, i was killing civics and accords and a few others. after i put in 50 shot of nitrous, it got even better. beat this one dude with a 92 integra gs with 70 shot and head job. the corolla does have potential. if i didnt crash it, i would of done the 3sgte swap on it.

corrolla are faster then civic with the 1.8 and dohc but with they way they look. i still rather go with the civic.

WTF??? this is sooooo old. BTW they are heavier so i don't care if they have .1L more then us. that doesn't make them faster. slow + fugly IMO

Drove an 05 Corolla LE last Friday night - it was an auto version - I guess 5 speed Corollas are pretty rare. Anyway , compared to an automatic LX Civic this Corolla was a lot more responsive. The interior was far more refined.

I don't like the beam style rear suspension , I like the true independent rear suspension like the Civic. I don't like headights that cannnot be turned off while you are sitting parked at night, I like a cruise light that comes on only when I am actually engaged in cruise mode. The Corollas cruise light come one when you press the button to be cruise enabled - so sitting at a stop light with cruise lit up on the dash? - that is dumb.

But ,If given the choice between a Civic LX , Civic EX or Corolla LE in a race for a million dollars and I got first choice I would take the Corolla. Even in the mag road tests it ran as fast as 16.0 1/4 mile with the 5 speed. With the VVT-i and 130 hp it is far more responsive than the LX Civic and should easily smoke any EX Civic. The 8th gen Civic can't get here soon enough!

under the same condistions, stock LE 5 speed Corolla is faster than stock LX 5 speed Civic

corollas are pretty nice.... i like 'em. Most cars on the street will be faster than our civics, but who cares. Our civics still look better.

If that question starts out "do you think a ____ can beat our civics?" the answer is yes 98% of the time.......like somone said before "comparing stock economy cars is like comparing who has the biggest 3 inch *****"

Swap it, boost it, Nos it and then lets talk performance......please stop comparing 16 second quarter miles....
