Me and my friends have been arguing lately with who would win.... My 2k1 civic ex.... or his 99 civic ex... My civic is totally stock... with the ole vtec... his is stock... but the papers he's got says he has a vtec... even though under the hood you don't see vtec... the only thing he does got is the ractive intake... so... i dunno... apparantly people think his car can take mine... but i'm not so sure... it may but i won't admit defeat just yet. and who would win this race.... the winner of that and a 2000 V6 accord with vtec? i dunno just thought i'd wonder... by the way... anybody got any good hookups on stuff for the car... tell me where ya get your stuff... i'm still in school so i don't always have money... heh. thanks.. later

Dont bench race. If you want to find out what will win against what, RACE THEM and find out. There are too many variables in a race to determine a winner like that unless theres a large difference in the cars performance from the start (which isnt the case). "VTEC" doesnt mean jack shit, so i dont know why your so concerned about it, however having said that yes, all EX civics have VTEC. also the "new" VTEC doesnt make your car any faster then a car with the "old" vtec, so again dont be concerned about it. ... ahh and you cant "see" VTEC from looking under the hood. its not a part you strap on.

i'm with joe on this, you can't just determin who would win by evaluating the cars. it's all about driving. are the cars auto or manual, if manual, does the driver know how to get max performance out of the car? things like that can only be found out by putting the rubber to the road. by the way, joe said strap on.

If both of you guys are autos, 2k1 will win. I race my friend and he has 99 EX Auto and I beat him just by a little bit. Niether of you have a chance against the Accord V6 so don't even bother.

Also, why don't you just race him and find out? It's not the end of the world if you lose.
