Goof in the fast and the furious
i dont know if this has been said before.... but i just thought of this before i fell asleep last night.
when paul races vin diesel at the beginning, paul loses his car... and tran blew it up. vin and paul raced and paul used all his NOS. but they both yell NOS when the car is about to blow!
point: THERE WAS NO NOS LEFT! they goofed that scene... but its still my fav movie.
ah ha!

hmmm, nope, never thought of that.
So is that how you go to sleep? You think happy thoughts about F&F?
I'll have to try that tonight.

well it wasnt exactly a ten second race!
more like a minute.
im sure he used all his nos..... but regardless its just a movie... and im just making a point to think of.... for the movie makers at least... not trying to be technical.

They should have made that first race scene more realistic. In real life, they would have been done somewhere around 11 seconds. But I think it took them like what....45 seconds or longer.
And how the hell did Mia and Torettos hole crew get to the finish line before they did. LOL

this movie has flaws to the core. picking out this specific example and pointing it out is like spotting the tip of an ice burg. Theres much MUCH more.

sigh.. and
A) NOS is a god damn company name. Its NOT a general term for nitrous.
B) they arnt really "big" bottles. they are both the standard 10Lb size. The "big" bottles (NOS brand anyway) are 15 and 20lb sizes.

agreed....
Also the race was a mile run....and if you happen to know anything about Nitrous oxide you'd know you don't flip the switch and leave it on...something which the writers managed to leave out, unless they had timers which cut the line after a certain amount of time.
nO2 is used in pulses, it isn't a turbo charger.
I'm more ocncerned with the fact that paul was able to drive the Eclipse after he did that much damage...the thing ran clean, where if you melted your piston rings you'd have oil going into the gas/oxygen mix and making it smoke horribly....but you have to remember that it is a movie.
And in movies that Supra cost 15K to put together....*laugh*

MSD window switch that activates and shuts off the nitrous between select RPMs, is pretty cheap, so MAYBE... heh.... naw, that movie just sucks ***.
I have a question about nitrous. I don't have any experience with it, so I don't know $hit about it. My question is, is nitrous actually flammable? I've heard that nitrous itself isn't actually flammable, and that all it does is cool the gas/air so that more of it (gas/air) can be crammed into the cylinder. Thanks for any help...and please don't burn me...I am new to nitrous.

But Brian and Dom say NOSS so thats what it must be called even if venom or nx or zex or whatnot makes it!!!

no its not flammable. actually if you look at a nitrous tank it specifically sayd "Oxidizer: NOT flammable".
the purpose of n20 is the same as any other power modification. It adds more air into the engine, and when combined with more fuel it creates more power. This is how increasing displacement, and forced induction also work (they just get the air in there by a different means). You cant use straight oxygen because thats too unstable, this is why its in a nitrousoxide solution.

And to answer your question, well basically its just like a double dose of oxygen, when u hit the button, and the nitrous is sprayed into either your cylinders or your intake it creates adds more o2 than Nitrogen opposite of air, and therefore adds more oxygen than would normally be in the cylinder creating a bigger explosion, because the more oxygen rich the mixture is the hotter it burns, granted you have enough fuel to compensate then it runs lean and you get all sorts of problems.

>>GO HERE NITROUS NEWBIE!
Hey, thanks for the nitrous help, guys. I appreciate it. I didn't think it was flammable, but I wasn't really sure. I was watching F&F, laughing at all the mistakes...when I saw 'em yell "NOS!!!"...then the car blew up with a bright blue flame. Now I thought it was kind of weird. The only thing I can think of that would have made that happen, is that the heat made the nitrous expand, causing the tanks to explode. Then, (I may be wrong) I believe that the oxygen in the nitrous could have made that flame blue like that...but it still seems somewhat unlikely, because that was a hella-big flame. Wouldn't it take a lot more oxygen than would be in those tanks to make the flame that blue? Just wondering...and don't flame me, because I know F&F is a lamer movie, k? I'm just curious.

an N20 bottle CAN blow up because its under pressure (throw a full can of beer in a fire and youll se this first hand). blue flame just means it burns hot. i can get a blue flame out of a bic lighter.
Did u also notice when they did race in the beginning that everybody was at the front line and when they finished everybody teleported there Things that make u go hmm. MOVIE STILL RULEZ!
all movies have flaws. If you say its stupid, then stop watching it. Its the same with any other movie. If there is a movie about a plane, then pilots who watch it will be doing just what you guys are doing. Just watch the movie, don't try to find things wrong with it.
