Arrow Did You Know.....

That when Honda has parts and materials come into their US factories none of it is inspected because Honda requires all of thier suppliers to make sure that the parts/materials are top quality. So they have everything shipped in, then it goes right onto/into the car......must save a lot of time/money to not have to inspect anything.

Maybe some of you guy/girls knew this, but to those who didnt - you learned somethig new today in the world of Honda

Edit: This came from a movie that I watched in my productions/operations management class

I am not sure what does it means.

As you stated, Honda requires all of their suppliers to make sure that the parts are top quality. It is a requirement, and suppliers are liable. You think the supplier would just send crap just because Honda would not test them again? I don't think so, if they still want to survive in this compatitive world.

I don't know if thats a bad thing or a good thing, it costs an arm and a leg at the stealership anyway, so why would I whine if they don't inspect it to save money and time? It also means that they trust the suppliers enough so they won't have to check up on them like little kids.

The suppliers are probably ISO certified, which requires high quality control standards

Actually, they are inspected by a third party before Honda recieves them. At least that is the way they are done in the plant here. The supplier ships them to a recieving area. A third party inspects them for quantity, quality, and then signs for them. From there, they go directly into the warehouse and are distributed right to the floor where they are installed.

A supplier signs an agreement that he will maintain a constant supply of parts and that they are built to specification. If he fails to maintain the proper supply or quality, he is rejected and loses his contract.
