Traffic Signal Changer
Has anyone ever heard of these? I think I've of them reffered to as "grey boxes" or something. They are supposed to change the light to green. It is the same thing that police cars or fire trucks have on them so the light turn green for them and they dont have to wait. Here is a link to one I found[*]http://www.plans-kits.com/kits/ but I have read articles saying that you can make them too. I think all it is is a strobe like. Think about always getting green lights

Yeah, it is just a strobe...a lot of school busses around here have them always flashing on top of them and a lot of people think they are to help see the bus, like you could miss a big yellow school bus, but they are to change the light quicker....only thing is that it will not work on all lights just lights with that sensor in them........in the movie Ronin they changed the light by remote, anything is possible in Hollywood
LMAO

Look at that slot machine cheater...would liek to see the guy that is dumb enough to actually try one of those in a casino.....he'll get his hand smashed with a hammer (or was that a movie?) Some pretty cool stuff on that site.

LMAO

Some pretty cool stuff on that site. When I lived in Fresno, they had all those sensors on all the major intersections, and any near fire stations. I've watched the strobe, and it's just a really fast strobe aimed at the sensor. In all theory, you should be able to pick up a strobe at radio shack and have it work...

I don't think the strobes on school buses are for the traffic lights. I think it is so you can see it better. That is really the concern with a school bus, so you don't pass it and shizz when kids are crossing. It's not a fu*king emergency vehicle, are they really in that much of a rush to get the kids home from school?!Think abouit that for christ's sake. LOL "Oh my god, change the lights to green so that we can get these kidz to school". Sorry. BTW ther strobe system in use by emergency vehicles is called an 'opticon' I belive.

It is not to get the kids home faster it is for fuel enconomy so the busses don't have to sit at every light and waste gas..that is the big reason and to keep them on time.
I would guess the strobe lights on top are for if its foggy outside its a safety feature i would guess cause i know it fogs occasionally in florida and instead of the drive making the mistake of not turning the strobes on they are on all the time. As for flashing your headlights ive seen that in the boonies on the way to West Palm Beach you flash your highs if your goin fast or whatnot and itll turn green

just so you guys know. its not a stobe that changes the lights it is an infrared beam that does. and the only lights it will work on are the ones that have alittle camera looking thing sticking out on top. and you can actually get arrested for impersonating a cop if you sit and flash your lights to make the light change......i have a friend that works here in southern california planning out where traffic lights will go and replacing them so he informed me on how the lights change. all others are just timers or sensors that will change once you drive over it. most are set differently for different parts of the day to accomidate traffic flow. so if you just spent your money on a "light changer" i feel for you....actually no i dont....

<< when i was still living in houston, we flash our high beams and it changed the light. >>
thats what i do too and it worked...i guess the strobe is mainly for daytime since the sensor has a hard time sensing highbeams in the light or morning or afternoon

Man you guys crack me up...
Do you think its the headlights that are doing the "light changing" or the sensors (I think they have some in the ground) picking up your dumb butt coming down the road (meanwhile you flash your high beams thinking that you "chagned" them)....I think its the sensors...

its the sensor that you ran over on the street. has nothing to do with your lights. STROBES DO NOT CHANGE TRAFFIC SIGNALS.....like i posted before ITS AN INFRARED BEAM. if it was strobes then it would be way to easy fo anyone to change a traffic light. and remember its not all traffic signals that change by the beam. some are still not equiped with it
