what's wrong with the srt-4
hey guys i was just reading up on the competition and i was looking at the dodge srt-4 and i thought it looks really sweet on paper so i was just wondering what makes the srt-4 not so popular... other than how ugly it is IMO so any body that knows any downfalls of the srt04 please let me know cause right now i like that over the 06 si. which i thought was impossible.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

My gripes:
1. Made by dodge to mimic import cars.
2. Marketed as SRT-4 not Neon SRT-4 but anyone can see its a turbo neon. nothing more
3. Based off the neon platform. I have a good friend that has a neon for a while now. I know how shitty these things are. Even visability is poor in them!
4. Reliability is as poor with these as any american car... very very poor.
5. Fanboys. Same reason im sick of EVOs and STis. Stupid fanboys. Thank god the 7thgen never got as big as the 5th and 6th in the tuner scene cause i hate the few 7th gen fanboys out there.

my brother has one(ACR VERSION). A one of the shop owners here in r-berg told us alot of people are having to replace the cv jolts and motor mounts (something else to) at 30,000 miles (somethink like that)

the srt 4 is a good fast car outta the box, but like rennen said most of are dicks and there cars are so fast. if only they had a flux capacitor to go with it...asses, but other than that it is a good car.

My best friend has an 05, they are fast cars, with about $300 in small mods, and a good set of slicks they can run high 12's. The motor mounts do break really easily and alot of people that drive them are cocky. He beats the **** out of it and had to replace the clutch already. It is a turbo neon, but its better than a supercharged cobalt.

cobalt ss seems to be gm's failed attempt at keeping up with dodge and the release of a sport compact car for the new generation of car enthusiasts. my friends dad has a c6 zo6, now that is a great car.

The SRT-4 is a piece of **** with a powerful motor. No more. No less.
Terrible exterior styling, terrible interior styling, terrible ergonomics, terrible fit and finish. Great engine.

Ita a domestic so those of us who have driven imports in the past will not like a car that (compared to imports) is poorly built, has no resale value, and just for the fact that it is a Neon.
Also...only Neon owners will wrap their taillights with nylon pantyhose lol.

I hope this doesn't become one of the 5000 Neon-bashing threads on this site. If it is it'll eventually degenerate into domestic vs. import and then a bunch of people saying stupid stuff and then claiming how they're 'entitled to their opinion'.

Well looks are subjective, but most people agree its ugly and i think dodge agrees since its not continuing the NEON name.
Here's the pros and cons
PRO
Cheap and fast
minor mods give decent gains
CONs
poor resale value
Poorly built

If they would of been out when I got my civic, I just may of gotten one. Havent really seen the interior of them. But they are fast, suspension can be weak, but thats what aftermarket is for. I think the srt4 is much better looking than regular neons. maybe its just the hood and rims that do it. But with any car that you push to its limits, you are gonna have to replace parts sooner or later. But for the price, and power you can make for cheap I think its worth it. It may not be the best car, and its deff not a c06, but lets face it, it was never ment to be. Completely different class. And I think most people would of gotten something better than a srt4 or a civic if they could afford to.
But yes, it still is a neon and always will be. And I still love my civic. Just wish it had some *****.

^ preach!!! thats soo true, and in my opinion, i really dont trust domestics, not saying that jus cuz i love honda, but i feel imports are way more reliable,
My friend has had one since 2002, he has replaced the clutch, rear motor mount, and something else that was minor...It really has been a great car as far as reliability..I was close to getting one, but I just cant get over the looks of the damn thing and I'm strictly a import person. Oh, he has about $1,500 in the motor and he hits 12.2 in the quarte ...I've put that much money into my motor and it's still a snail...I say, if you can get over the looks, go for it...Best bang for the buck and from what I have seen, they aren't that bad in quality like everyone thinks they are..Just my opinion
I was VERY clost to trading in my civic to get one. The dealer let me take it home for the nght, and i hated it. The shifter sucked, there was less space in the front than my civic, and the interior was crappy. I did like how it beat the **** out of my nieghbor's rx-8 a zillion times.

The SRT-4 is a huge afterthought. They shoved a turbo engine into a car and called it another car. It wasn't designed around the car.
Well, reliability is another subject people here are talking about, I won't comment on that one.
I will say though that it is butt ugly. The front looks great, but when it you see the sides and the rear, you're looking at one ugly car.
Quality wise, well, its supposed to feel fast... which I guess it does, but it also seems a bit tacky. Better than some other American products, but still nothing that will win my heart over.

my brother gave me a neon and I had redlined a couple of times and it started to knock. For one thing my brother never drove this car hard I know that for a fact. I got rid if it fast I was looking at the SRT-4 and was like wow this thing is a neon but with a turbo and the only reason I wanted that car was bc of the turbo. But then I realized this was still a neon and after what I was going through with the neon. Then I found my bad *** 7th gen and bought it. I am so glad I didnt end up gettin the srt-4. And everybody who says srt-4 owners are cocky ****** u couldnt be any more right about that.

It's the same 2.4 liter in the PT Turbo.
My friend has an SRT-4, and I love driving it, but there are some things I do not like.
Cons:
- Poor build quality.
- 15psi of boost and only 227hp?
- Third gear is weak. As is second.
- Motor mounts break spontaneously.
- Seats are uncomfortable.
- Sunroof stops working on many after about 15k miles.
- Shifter is too close to the seat.
- Very easy to lose the back end. On the track, you can feel the back end skidding across the pavement.

wow thanks everbody i seriously didn't expect this much response so yea thanks. and i kinda expected what you were sayin about reliability and ugliness but the reason i think it would be cool is just that it is a already done car, i cant do **** to mine untill after warranty wears off so right now(and for the next 3 years) any cheap stock fast car is gonna look supa sweet. but i do really like my vic just cause its so fun and easy to drive and i can drive it to death and not worry.
