Just rear ended a car

On my way to the bank today - just cruising at about 30, just left a school zone and there was lots of traffic, and some lady stops her stupid 87 camry right in front of me and I couldn't stop in time. I hit the brakes and slid for about 20 feet before I smashed into her. I was about to steer into the next lane, but a big ole truck was to the right of me and if I would have tried, I would have spun (all tires were locked). Funny things is - her stupid car gets a dent in the rear bumper, and my car gets a hole burned in the front bumper from her exhaust pipe, the whole bumper cover doesn't sit right, and now the hood doesn't close right and there is a 1/2" gap on one side and a 1/4" on the other. The impact was hard enough to knock my windows out of place (they don't sit between the two rubber seals anymore.) It's ok though. A few things I have on my side - two witnesses saw her stop in front of me and they also saw that i wasnt speeding. One of the witnesses and I both know that nothing is wrong with her cause she didn't compain at all. AND...she told me that if anything had happened to her children, that her husband would kill me. Is that not a direct threat on my life? Anyways - I'm gonna take my car to get checked out tommorow and let you know how bad the damage is. Stupid firestones and stupid drum brakes. Wish my car was equipped with 4 wheel 4 piston brakes!!

UPDATE - This lady calls me and tells me she doesn't want to go through the insurance company and that I can just pay her and settle it that way. She gets me a quote on the damages and medical expenses totaling over $4500. Like I have that kind of money laying around. Well, anyway, all I saw on her car was the rear bumper needing replacment and the estimate she sends me includes stuff about the rear quarter panel, tail light assembly, etc, etc. totaling $1500 - so me and a friend take a trip down to her house with a camera, and guess what....nothing was wrong with the tail light, rear quarter or anything else, just the rear bumper. So, we take a bunch of pictures and now that she tried to get money out of me by having a fake invoive made up, I'm just gonna screw her over. Oh, and by the way, the medical expenses she claims have no receipts or documentation of any kind.

F'ckin bitch...

"IF YOU WOULDA INJURED MY KIDS, MY HUSBAND WOULD KILL YOU!"

Just be like:

"Lady... from what's left of my car, I would've killed him first by running his *** over."

The lady:

"How dare you!!!"

There... you win! You've got witnesses... problem solved. Fix your car... and smile.

Unless Hubby was there, yeah. But you'd have to be highly feminine and afraid to have the cop believe you'd be frightened by that threat. No offense.

i almost got expelled from high school for a second time when i was accused of making a threat at somebody's life. just accused, nobody witnessed it. this is a lot worse, lots of witnesses and stuff. i say you call the cops on that one still.

Get a good lawyer and sue. My mom won a similiar suit in Alabama where if you hit someone in the rear it's automatically your fault and she came out on top. Only took $2000 in lawyer fees but she got a ton of cash from the settlement.

ahh that sucks man, here in FL if you rear end someone you are f'd the ONLY way to get out of it is if witness saw the car pull out in front of you with no room to stop, or they change lanes and slam on the brakes

but good luck anyway!!

Good luck.. a similar thing happened to me when my civic was only 3 months old.. it was deemed all my fault *shrug* The total damage on mine was $4,500 (it didn't even look that bad),. but insurance covered it all

my girlfriend just rear-ended some guy last night. they were at a light, and he started to go, and they were both up to like 20mph, then i slams on his breaks for no reason at all, and she didnt have time to completely stop. his car got a little scuff mark on the bumper, her piece of sh*t hyundai hollow plastic bumper broke into pieces.. another example of hyundai quality

hey sorry to hear that. Two of my friends rearended someone yesterday....two guys in a LEXUS. The guys got out and were like "if you have any drugs its cool, just get rid of them now." of course my friends didnt, but when the cops came and everything, the two guys in the lexus totally turned two face and were like "oh my god! look what happened!" and the one guy started complaining about his neck hurting. The lexus just had some scrapes, but my friends car got f*cked up!

Once I was following my two friends on a rainy night... Both their cars were stopped at a light waiting to make a left turn, and as I pulled up behind them, my tires lost grip on the sh*tty wet road and I slid into the middle one(Neon), and that slid into my other friend's car(Caravan ) ANYWAYS, my car, a '93 Cav Z24 got away without a scratch... The Caravan needed a new rear bumper for a few hundred bucks, but the REALLY funny thing is that the Neon needed over $2000 bucks of repairs to the engine and bumper. I know it's mean to laugh about it, cause she's my friend and all, but come on, if I was going slow enough that my car, from the initial impact didnt even get a scratch, isn't it rediculous how many problems the Neon had?! just my $.02

btw, good luck with everything
